Is PP's tracking better than Halo 3's PP?

I’ve been hearing some conflicting reports about weather the Plasma Pistol in Halo 4 is more or less powerful than Reach’s PP. One thing everyone seems to agree on is that Halo 4’s PP charge shot isn’t as good at tracking as the Reach PP (and perhaps slower at it.)

My question is, how well does the new PP’s charge shot track compared to Halo 3’s PP? Does it track better? Worse? The PP has been one my favorite weapons in every game, but I found it’s charge shot tracking to be so nerfed in Halo 3 that it usually wasn’t worth using it in multiplayer. I’m hoping this isn’t as extreme.

So how does it compare in tracking and speed?

I heard that the overcharge of PP is slower in Halo 4 though, not sure where I heard it though.

Tracking however is unclear to me, haven’t seen it or used it.

Compared to Reach or Halo 3?

From what I’ve heard, it’s tracking has been considerably nerfed. Compared to Reach, that is.

No one has compared it to 3 yet and I haven’t played it, so can’t really help. But I assume there’s less tracking compared to 3, in order to balance it now it can be equipped on spawn.

I’d rather have a useful weapon that I can use sometimes than a useless one I can use anytime.

Using spawn-ability as a major reason in weapon balancing sounds an awful lot like another game series. This is a very anti-Halo approach to balancing.

If it will track from a longer range like in CE and H2, then it’s acceptable.

Otherwise, H4 plasma pistol may end up taking H3 PP’s place (last place).

My concern exactly.

Its tracking was nerfed so people can’t use the Noob Combo (Overcharged plasma shot to drop shields then a quick headshot) as you can now have the PP as a secondary.

I got to use the PP a LITTLE bit when I played H4, I think it tracks a LITTLE MORE THAN H3, but not much.

Well, if this is true I guess it’s not the worst PP in a Halo game. Although, Halfanhour4 did say people weren’t even able to use the noob combo.

Does anyone have a link to a video where someone actually uses the Halo 4 PP for more than a couple seconds?

I used the noob combo myself at RTX a few times. Tracking seems to be somewhere between 3’s and Reach’s but the projectile seems to move faster. Anybody I actually aimed at got hit by it.

I didn’t pay attention to the charge up times but I probably would have noticed if it had been considerably long.

Thanks, this is reassuring. As long as tracking isn’t as bad as Halo 3, I don’t need Halo 2/Reach super tracking.

And yeah, charge time seemed pretty normal in videos I’ve seen.
