I haven’t played Halo since the beginning of Halo 4 so I’m of practice quite a bit. I played my 10 games of SWAT (my preferred gametype) and was placed in Platinum 2. I see each division goes to 6 then I’d go up to Diamond. So I’m really wondering to the more seasoned players if Plat 2 is a good starting point, or is platinum where everyone ends up? Thanks.
Gold or Platinum is about average. Diamond and upwards is where things get really intense.
I play with two onyx swat players, and they rout everyone in other games, like 4.0 kd

Platinum is not below average. If you look up current csr charts, gold 4 is about average
Onyx on a team is average, playing swat by yourself is much harder because randos can suck and quit. So platinum 2 solo > onyx team
That’s a nice placement, considering you’ve been out for awhile. Just make sure you have a headset if you plan to climb the ranks, as you’ll be placed with more competitive people who dislike players who don’t communicate.
I got placed in platinum 2 also and it’s kind of annoying because I solo but every game so far I’ve had a positive KDA and my team will lose and I feel like there’s not much I can do about it.
I’d say it’s a good placement.

The game will place you slightly lower than your skill level since you never placed before so it’s a good placement.

This isn’t about you. If you are “very skilled” then onyx should be above average. I don’t see hwo your rank is relevant. I was saying there are onyx players because they can communicate.
Anyway, the average csr for swat is gold 4 or 5 OP
I’d say that means diamond if not onyx is in your future. Way back I first got placed in gold something. I’ve gone up to mid-diamond every single season solo then and since, aside from the one season I made it to onyx with a friend.
This might seem odd, but I think plat is honestly the sweatiest rank. Everybody in there is trying their butts off to either advance to diamond or stay out of gold, but they’re mostly playing solo and not communicating. It’s a mess.
Diamond it seems that people are a bit more comfortable for the most part, though obviously more skilled and a bit more communicative.
And then onyx/champ is 50% smurfing. (though that should hopefully change with recent updates)

Bronze - Below average. I’ve seen people intentionally try and get this and fail… so certainly below average. Not, a bad thing, you got to start somewhere.
Silver - Below average
Gold -Average
Platinum - Average
Diamond - Above Average
Onyx- Above Average
Champion- Pro… or you have just played more games on that specified game mode than most.

Gold 4 is average lol, if people look it up and don’t guess, that’s what it is

I’m pretty sure Onyx is considered more than above average. Try semi-pro.
Platinum 2 is a perfectly average place to be. It means your not really bad but your not really good. Its a great spot for people who just want to enjoy the game to its fullest.

The entire rankings population is not based on your rank. The reason you can rank onyx after your ten placements is because of your previous rank in that playlist. New tags or new players can win 10/10 games and place Platinum.
I think Plat 2 is pretty good especially after time away.
Like a few others in this thread I tend to rank onyx 1700 every season, what they aren’t saying though is thats just because the ranking system works that way, I could pretty much lose 10 games and still be onyx or at very very worst high diamond. When ranking for the first time without ever having played in the playlist, I am pretty sure the best rank you can get is a maximum of high plat. So your rank is awesome for a first go.
Well according to 343i if you’re in the plat ranks you’re among the top 50% of players so yeah that’s good.
