I mean, one team has a tremendous advantage over the other. They have a Rocket Launcher right at the start! Not to mention all they have to do is go to the teleporter and get a Shotgun and Sniper Rifle right off the bat. The other team is either scrambling for their Sniper or being blasted to bits by the Rocket Launcher. I would say change the weapon locations as in make the Rocket Launcher in the center of the map. That way the other team has a chance. And I will admit I’m guilty of using the advantage when I have it.
I have never liked this map, ever. Not even in Halo 2.
> I have never liked this map, ever. Not even in Halo 2.
Agreed, but at least the satellite was moving making the Sniper’s job harder as well as the man with the Rocket Launcher.
Yup, highly unfair for the reasons posted. I can’t stand that map but if I do spawn on the rocket side (which is rare), one person can have rockets, sniper and attack from an easily defendable post on the far ramp rising.
If anything, they need to eliminate that entire lower area where rockets spawn and instead place them right in the center of the map.
343 should bring the banshee back and see what happens.

I’m not even going to bother enlightening this one. Will someone else do it for me?

Sure thing. The answer is simple. Nobody will vote for it again. Almost nobody votes for it now. If they brought back the Banshee, nobody would ever vote for it.
Pinnacle is easily one of the worst maps. One team spawns with all the power weapons nearby. The only thing that’s worse is Pinnacle in Rumble Pit because then one person will have most or all of the power weapons.
If they changed spawn positions, and/or increase movement speed and/or increase shields, then this map becomes more fair. The Banshee would be awesome…if it was the Halo 2 Banshee, where you could actually take it down with the Rockets.
I’ve always just thought that sticking a Rocket in the Tower of Power would help to even out the major difference in spawn locations (if you absolutely have to keep the same relative spawn positions.
Kill times in Reach are too slow to accommodate redesigned Halo 2/3 maps. It’s too easy to get to cover when shooting someone with any weapon other than a Rocket/Sniper/Shottie. The maps are recreated to look EXACTLY like their predecessor even though game play is very different. That means that the map would not play the way it’s supposed to and therefore people won’t like it. That’s simple deductive reasoning that I applied in 5 seconds. Not sure why Bungie, and now 343, couldn’t do the same. (I imagine Bungie’s reply would resemble the Family Guy scene where Peter goes looking for a job at the temp agency and the temp agent says “Look I’m out of here in three weeks and I have totally checked out.”)
Ascension kind of sucked to start with… I distinctly remember the nightmare of playing Rifles (no SMGs) on that map where guys would grab the rockets THEN the Banshee, and proceed to be invincible for ten minutes.
I’m pretty sure the only reason they even thought about remaking it was that it had big sections that could be turned into forge objects. The fact that it has remained in matchmaking so long (especially after a huge section of the map remains pointless thanks to the absence of the Banshee) is honestly pretty sad.
Yes, it’s unfairly unbalanced. But why single out Pinnacle? This same statement can be made for most of the built-in original 4v4 maps. The only exceptions are Zealot/Arena Zealot, Countdown, and Asylum. I’m not saying that these three are good maps; but they are the only original 4v4 maps that are reasonably balanced with regard to weapon access, and in that sense fair.
1 flag on Pinnacle is fun but otherwise that map is horrendous. There’s a reason it got removed from 2 playlists.
Pinnacle is a good map but one of the worst for Team Slayer or BTB. Only issue I have to give for the map is the top rock on the map. That rock everyone goes with the Sniper Rifle first thing they do is snipe. Even people with DMRs can get up there. They need to fix it and make that rock a kill boundary or put something over it so Red team doesn’t get spawn killed every time blue team spawn kills them. It’s the same thing with its other Forge map with the Banshee on it(forgot what it was called someone can post here and remind me). I don’t mind Rockets or any other weapon being on the map the only problem is that big rock. First thing I see if I play that map is check for blue team with snipers and DMRs. They’ll snipe you first thing once you go anywhere on the left side of the map or at your base. It needs to be fixed.
Do you like the map Pinnacle?
Discuss.
I like ascension.
> I like ascension.
No.
Ascension was much better.
> > I like ascension.
Altitude, by Xx Overkill VR in my fileshare, is a much more accurate and balanced Ascension remake.
I think the map puts to much importance on sniping, especially with AR starts.
> I think the map puts to much importance on sniping, especially with AR starts.
That’s not a Pinnacle problem. That’s an AR starts problem. Once the enemy team secures even just DMRs, you are screwed when you respawn with an AR. If the enemy team has the DMRs AND the power weapons, and you respawn with an AR, good luck surviving.

But AR starts promote weapon variety and better map movement!!!
-_-
OT: this map sucks except for 1 flag in team objective.
