is PC population Dead?

Cant even connect or find games for team war and even i do gets out of sync and throws out of the game…bravo 343 for ruining halo wars 2 franchise.

Im sorry for you.

But it should never been a play anywhere feature in the first place.

This weakens Xbox’s position vs. the PS4 and leaves a bad taste on the game since these are mostly Xbox titles, more known and accepted within Xbox console players & owners.

This is very bad brand management. Highly recognised and worthy Xbox exclusive brands are no sales pushers for Microsofts Windows.

And to answer your question: YES, PC is dead for HW2.

By your “Im sorry for you” line.

I’m guessing you haven’t even played on pc, so don’t say its dead when you haven’t even played it.

And the game isn’t dead at all, sure you get sometimes where you cant find any games but it is certainly not dead.

PC population is small, but it’s not dead. I can generally find a VS AI game without too much of a wait.

I completely disagree that “it should never have been a play anywhere” game. I love that I can play MP or Blitz on the Xbox, but when I want to go Campaign or Skirmish or Firefight or VS AI, I can play on the PC. They clearly wanted veteran PC RTS players to give it a chance, which wouldn’t happen if it was console only. I think they did an excellent job of making this “console rts” work very well on PC. There are some annoying technical problems - disconnects are much more frequent on PC - but the game itself works well on PC.

The only reason they’re even on PC is because the Xbox One is doing poor and Halo and Forza aren’t the system sellers they used to be.

Dont quote me when you have no clue about what I have played or not.

I have 3.000 EUR gaming system, but mostly prefer playing on my Xbox One S.

I had pre-ordered the Digital Ultimate Edition in December 2016, played HW:DE on my PC and I do play sometimes Halo Wars 2 on my PC, mostly weekends. Blitz has been dead for a long time on PC, mostly you can find matches vs. AI, but the Windows Store is not widely accepted, thats the reason why the there is almost a non-existing PC playerbase. Its that easy.

I dont think that this is true at all.

How many Xbox have been sold so far worldwide? 30 million, 40 million? You dont earn money with the hardware you sell, you earn money with its content, with software. Gaming consoles are not Apple.

If even 30-40% are Xbox Live Users, this is your main source of income. 10-15 million people paying 60€ a year makes about 600 - 900 million € a year gross sales only from the Live Service, then there license income for developed games, store sales etc etc. Its not really a bad deal.

The Xbox One has about half the sales of the PS4 so it’s not doing amazing in comparison to it’s competition, but most likely is making a decent profit. I agree that the software/online subscription is where the money is made for the consoles.

Halo and Forza only appeal to big fans of each franchise at the moment, so making PC releases for them isn’t really hurting console sales. It does make a bit more money for each release though.

No, just no. It merely gives an option, btw is STILL connected to the xbox ecosystem, for thos who prefer PC over console gaming.

I no longer have an xbox, it’s thanks to play anywhere that I can even play at all (And that goes for other games like Cuphead which i couldve easily just have bought on steam)

But that’s just me. I’m in the minority. My friends dont play PC because upgrading is a hassle and can be very expensive. Realistically the PC audience is very niche and play-anywhere really doesnt deter the overall sales. And that also goes with PS4, games like SF5 and Ni-Oh are HEAVILY advertised as PS4 exclusives and yet theyre on PC.

Xbox sales suffering isnt the shared eco-system. Its MS’ faulty marketing and lack of exclusives IN GENERAL. Nintendo released their new system with killer apps like Zelda, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Pokken, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario & Rabbids, etc. And Sony had Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush 2, Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy, Nier, Persona 5. Not to mention all the marketing for games like CoD, Destiny, FIFA 18, etc.

Xbox has…
Halo Wars 2, Micro-transactions 7 and Cuphead. Amazing.

And what about next year for AAA exclusives we know of? Xbox has Crackdown 3 and Sea of Delays. PS4 has Spider-man and God of War 4.
Amazing work, xbox team.

Yes I’m salty at Xbox right now.

I was excited for Forza Motorsport 7, but they completely killed it for me. So many useless “features” added and the removal of other things that are staples to the series. It was Forza Motorsport 5 that put me off buying an Xbox One.

I think any play anywhere title that doesn’t have crossplay is not going to do well in player population. The exclusives aren’t good enough and the Windows Store and UWP platform have a lot of disadvantages for PC users with nearly no benefits.

Well the issue is it’s ultimately up to 343 and CA whether or not this game has cross-play (and for co-op it SHOULD).
Gears of War 4 has cross-play and it wasnt as big of an imbalance as people originally expected. Halo Wars is a watered down RTS game, there’s no reason why xbox cant be on par with pc in this regard
