Is overgrowth bearable now?

I remember when i despised this map, bc of the disgusting cqc(sword,shotty, and camo). But with the update the shotgun is removed. Does this make overgrowth bearable??? imo yes ,for it halves the cqc, and suprisingly makes the map feel more open. So atm im giving og a 7/10. What are your opinions, discuss freely in the replies below.

They took out the shotgun? :frowning: that sucks… It’s one of my favorite maps though

Haven’t even played the updated version but I’m pretty sure it’s no different than before.

Who cares about the six-round shotguns on these maps? The Sword is by far the game changer of that map.

Sword still dominates, due to the radars short range(+Camo sometimes) you have no way to counter-play the sword unless you just put your back on the wall or have a railgun in your hands.

Roaming around the map when the sword is in enemy hands, is a suicide. Poorly design map.

I have yet to play strongholds after the update so idk about team arena. I can firm this for slayer.

Trust me play without the shotty. Much better than before. I know this map left a bad taste to many but i think it sort of works.

The shotgun was the perfect counter to the sword. Removing just makes the sword overpowered on the map. They should have gotten rid of inviz and keep both the sword and shotty, or replace the shotty with the needler.

I think they should have got rid of the sword and left the shotty.

I really enjoy playing on the map… I like the CQC feel (and it’s good to have maps that encompass all styles of play).

I do agree that there were too many power weapons on the map though… I guess it is difficult on the asymmetrical maps as you want to give one to each team at the start… but if/when a team had both the sword AND the shotgun… it was carnage.

When the opponent has the sword you have to hold in the more open areas… you have to bring them to you… and you pretty much have to have a sacrificial spartan on point… but that’s ok… it encourages team tactics to get the sword back.

Personally I would take the rail gun out as well… and move the sword to the bottom middle… and I would then replace that sword with the shotgun.

It actually only has 5 rounds in this game.

I got good at the map with shotty and sword. The problem with the map mostly is that people don’t know how to play it. Once u control that room where the shotgun used to spawn you will win that map; whether u have the sword or not. The map has too many narrow corridors to run around wrecklesly. Get the shotty get the inviz and control the shotgun area and you can win by a huge margin

So how will the sword get countered now?

Honesty, I was on the fence about removing the shotgun, but now that it’s gone. I want it back…it NEEDS to come back. The sword is just so dominate in Halo 5. No one goes for anything but sword on this map now. I just think the shotgun and sword can both be on the map now after playing the update, just separate them on the map. Make them far apart and have invis. not near them either.

I would like to try this set up… OR I would also add plasma caster to this map where shotgun is…also maybe and remove rail. I just think this is a map where it could shine. I don’t know… I just think PC, Sword, invis. and maybe shotgun could be on this map. Rail I just think needs to go. It’s too much of a CQC map and rail just doesn’t seem to fit I think. It doesn’t do a bad job on the map but that’s just my feelings…Also add Halo 2 BR to more maps (all would be nice :P)

I think the plasma caster would be a great addition if it spawned where shotgun did. Maybe move camo or remove it and put overshield where railgun currently spawns.

Ya unfortunately there’s no counter to the sword now… very frustrating. There needs to be a balance. The only thing wrong was the invis was too close to blue, so they take off the shotgun? And now I have to deal with another annoying carbine spammer? I like CQ maps because it changes up the variety. Not every map has to feel the same.

Ya I think the map design was the bigger flaw. The hallways need to be just a small portion of this map and they need to expand on the grassy grove area below.
But now with no shotty there is no counter to the sword so that didn’t really help imo.

Or put the invis in middle, or replace invis with OS

I love the carbine, but its frustrating when there is only one on the map and a good carbine user will hardly ever lose to a br.

I agree with you it’s nice to have a change of gameplay once in a while. This is one of the only map that provides CQC and people threw a fit. I think invis next to shotgun was the bigger problem. Invis should be moved first to somewhere both teams have to push for. Then the person who gets the shotgun will likely not have invis. I might also replace invis altogether with OS
