Is Osiris formed before Blue Team goes AWOL?

I’ve heard that the first mission is Osiris and they’re sent in to get Halsey. They’ve also said this is before Blue Team goes AWOL, so does this mean that Osiris is formed not just for hunting down Blue Team? Could HIGHCOM form them for high value missions?

Isn’t the answer in your question itself? If the first mission is Osiris before Blue Team goes AWOL, then of course they were formed before. Locke is known for hunting down high value targets so he’s probably been doing that for a while. I don’t know much about the timelines of New Blood or Hunters in the Dark but Tanaka was in the Escalation comics which take place close to the beginning of Halo 5. This could mean Osiris is new as a team but how new, I’m not sure.

I’m going to assume that Osiris is a fire team formed for other purposes and then they’re assigned to bring back blue team.
