Is MP any good?

Wanted to know if the MP is any good, compared to MCC ? I dunno man, I start seeing crap like weapon ornaments etc, eagle skin rifles, etc, that kind of gives me a lot to worry about.

Does it feel good as a shooter? Sure

Is it Halo? Far from.

Barely any classic weapons.

The pickup equipment situation is a mess.

People are having technical issues(I’m not)

It’s just Halo 4 with slide and clamber

No collision seriously hurts this game

Game modes are really long winded

Only one ranked mode.

The list goes on but those are the basics. Maybe it’ll be worth it a year from now but to grind this game as your daily go to is not where this game stands in my opinion

The gameplay itself is fine, apart from not being able to switch crossplay off and the starting weapons being a bit too good compared to the rest of the sandbox. And a few other things the more I think about it.
Probably my 3rd favourite mp in terms of only gameplay.

The things around the gameplay though surrounding the customisation is really disappointing.

All my own opinions ofc.

I’ve been playing it daily since mp dropped and having a fantastic time. You only notice the cosmetics at the start of a match and I actually think they look cool. YMMV.

The gameplay is a lot of fun. Feels very Halo. Cross between H2 and H5.

I don’t get the angst about cross play. If I’m a Plat 4 playing with and against a bunch of Plat 4’s - it doesn’t matter who is using what machine, controller, monitor, or gaming chair. It would only come into effect if you are playing a high end tournament.

The game pushes objective over slayer… but I’m slowly warming to it. Especially as a less than stellar player… I can play my role and feel like I’m helping the team (which I guess is why eSports have moved to objective games - it’s more about the team than the individual).

Personally I’m not into the customisation. But I have purchased a Daisy bear (loved that episode) and a t-bag trinket for my weapons. Nothing you would notice in game… and importantly doesn’t give me any advantage whatsoever.

The equipment is a lot of fun. Pick up - so is (and can be further) balanced.

The new weapons are warming on me. Especially the shock rifle. I do like the new shotgun… but I hope the classic returns for customs.

The game is still a bit light on in terms of options… but Forge is coming.

Funny you say it feels like h2 and h5. It feels like Halo 4 to me but with slide and clamber and the pickups are almost like the loadouts in halo 4.

I gatta ask wouldn’t it beore fun if every player had movement options? Because I have fun when I pickup equipment but I soon as I run into a player that doesn’t have one, all the joy is sucked out of it because we are not moving the same.

the gameplay itself is good but the whole progression system is challenge centered and not good sadly.
Still worth playing but I really wish the battle pass and progression resembled mcc like they were originally talking about.
343 also managed to monetize every little thing they could too and its all overpriced but you can still play for free

thanks for the input guys, wow, getting different opinions here. Question, more fun than MCC ? Or rather, worth leaving MCC for this?

Personally, MCC is way better at the moment.

The combat loop of Infinite is fine. A lot of the gameplay is actually either busted, not present, or paywalled with arbitrary restrictions even beyond the paywalls. There are other problems, like many of the vehicles severely need tuning, the network sync creates a lot of problems for a lot of players (disappearing grenades/melees, being shot through walls, etc), repetitive maps and modes, and a wretched challenge-based progression system which forces many teammates to be focused on things other than “winning the game”.

Ranked play is excellent and much better than anything in the MCC. Social/quick play is just OK, because it’s exactly like ranked but with less competitive game settings. BTB is absolutely horrible compared to MCC.

Netcode is worse than MCC somehow.

You want to know if the MP is good but the first concerns you have are about seeing extra stuff that really doesn’t even matter. Lol come on man. Worry about if you like the game play. Is it better than mcc? Only you can say if it is or isn’t after you’ve spent a good amount of time in the game to compare it.

A good comparison comes after a few sessions, and understanding any nuances in the game.

A terrible comparison is someone who plays less than a handful of matches to immediately come onto the forums crying about why x y and z have changed from halo (insert their previous halo here) .

Its a different game. If you like it, that’s awesome. If you don’t, well hopefully things are added in to change your mind at some point, but mcc more than likely still has players on it.

I wouldn’t until they fine tune the experience. I love the game, but I (and many others) have serious issues with aiming for various reasons that haven’t been fully figured out yet. For me it makes the whole experience frustrating to play.

Yeah I agree with you. There are many issues that damages the over-all enjoyment a lot. Underneath all that there is a great game that I hope will truly shine one day.

It’s great but lacks content on all fronts.

Feels less like h4 than others. No loadouts, unlike h4, has descope, unlike h4, minimal weapon role overlap, extremely unlike h4, no loadout “perks”, no callable or dance drops, much slower sprint, more classic art style, equipment pickup on map - like H3, unlike h4.

I just don’t see it.

Cosmetics are just that, cosmetics.

The game feels pretty great. It feels like the logical extension of a game like Halo Reach, where 4 and 5 took a more radical shift towards different design philosophies, but still shares some similarities with 5 (clambering, sprint, and ADS).

It’s a free to play title so jumping in wouldn’t be the most difficult thing to do. There are bugs, glitches and some server issues, but if you stick with a few friends it’s a pretty fun time.

Kinda. Theres a plethora of issues with how the game behaves (No player collision, not able to toggle crossplay, wildly inconsistent melee and hit reg, awful desync issues, etc.). The core gameplay is sound, but if you’re after a solid halo experience then it might not be the game for you. I see this multiplayer as a cousin to the classic games. Looks like H3 but plays like H4/5 but with worse hit reg and weapon balancing.
