Reach changed it so no matter the amount of shield you have left, It would always bring you down to zero shield. H3 it was just a set amount.
Does anyone know which it is for H4?

It’s more like Halo 3.
Halo 3, bleedthrough is enabled globally on Halo 4.

Thank god for that.
Its like halo 3.
Bleedthrough is back!
Really excited about melee battles making sense again.

I feel like this is a noobish question, but what is bleedthrough.
Edit: I am guessing it means it does dmg to the shield and to the actual health afterwards?
I wish meleeing was like Halo 2 (NOT ridiculously overpowered but with bleedthrough) but I’m glad it’s at least more like Halo 3’s. Reach’s melee system was a horrible mess.

I’ll try to explain it the best I can.
Bleedthrough is where the melee attack goes through the shield and effects health too, depending on shield status.
An example is best way to describe it.
A common tactic in Halo 3 was charging at an enemy with an assault rifle. Fire a bunch of shots in until you’re in melee range, and then melee. The enemy shield isn’t usually all the way down, but they die anyway. You pretty much punched through the shield, killing your enemy.
This probably isn’t the best explanation, but do you get the idea? The shield does not have to be all the way down to do damage to the player health during melee.

Bleedthrough is this: when you have, say, 10% shields, in Reach, meleeing someone at that point would just reduce shields and do NO health damage.
With Halo 3, which HAS bleedthrough, if they have 10% shields, and you melee them, it not only takes down shields but also does health damage and often kills them.
Why it was removed in Reach is really just beyond me…
It’s like Halo 3’s, and Thank God!
I’m so glad they decided to go back to Halo 3’s melee. I HATED Reach’s excuse of a melee system.
