It would not surprise me, but I would not be happy about it, time will tell what plans they have.
I like Locke’s character, he is cool, composed, and a good leader, but I do not like his character more than Master Chief. If they plan to use Locke as a main character I hope it is in a spin off.
I very much hope not.
117 is the Chief of our Tribe remember?
I think Halo 6 would be more focused on the Master Chief rather than Locke. After all, there isn’t much you can do when Master Chief’s goal was only finding where Cortana is, which is on Genesis, which was pretty simple. Can’t say for the rest of the game’s lifespan.

I agree with all of you (how many times do we get to say that in here lol). I could cope with Locke in spin off games or as an aid to John, but 117 is the ultimate spartan and our main character, they have successfully re-invented Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, I expect no less with the Master Chief and Halo.

90% Im sure Halo 6 will more Master Chief , but then … I dont know . But we have to say what to change the main character is a natural conseguence and we must understand this . life goes on and Halo too .

Well you only were able to play what 2 missions with Chief in H5? They are already showing Chief is getting weak. Locke cracked his visor. It is a sign of Chief getting old, weak, and eventually leaving. I am guessing they will wait until H7 to fully get rid of the chief. Doubt they will kill him off, but I am sure he is going to “retire” one way or another by H7.
I hope not, I think we can all agree that we buy Halo for Master Chief.

If anything that scene proved Chief was as tough as ever, Locke got his butt kicked after breaking the Chiefs visor, it could be interpretted that Chief is far from done, besides, there is a ton of material that can be turned into games, there were many like me, that avoided all publicity and enjoyed the game but were disappointed at the lack of Johns content, I’ll be watching a lot closer next time, and I expect many others will be too.

He has to die. That’s the only way a true hero like Chief can go out. Do you want to see him in charge of ONI, not being a badass? Or in a wheelchair with an oxygen tank? No. Chief has to die, and soon, if it is going to mean anything to us as players. The longer they draw out his life, the less he becomes. If he would have died in 5 I would have cried. If he dies in 6, I still probably will, but 7, who knows? We could become so detached from CE that we forget that Chief is a soldier, and soldiers live and die by the gun.
Locke must be the most boring character in a Halo game ever. He’s just following orders, there’s zero depth to him.
I guess they could make a spin-off game based on Locke but making a Halo game without the Chief is like making a Bond movie without Bond.

He doesn’t have to die. If bart simpson can be 10 years old for 16 years, Master Chief can be immortal.
Main character? The whole game was centered on him. This was Locke’s game. Master Chief was just on the cover.
For Locke to be the new main character, he would have to be a character. The commander of an elite squad of soldiers who does what needs to be done to complete his mission, regardless of how it imperils them and how he feels about the task. Dived real deep into the creativity barrel on that one, 343.
Locke is probably not likely going to be the main character, but a 2nd protagonist, but Master Chief will still be the main Protagonist.

I don’t and never have. I love chief as a character, even more since 343 started to explore more of him, but I am here for the universe of Halo and the potential it has to tell so many great stories. Not all of them need to revolve around MC, we already have plenty of evidence of that so far
