Is it worth it..?

I find all this chat about visual rankings quite funny. Me personally, I could care less about them showing my true kill rank, because frankly, that’s not why I play games.

However, I do have to admit that in my own personal selfish ways, I did enjoy that little iconic number next to my name in Halo 2, and Halo 3. Whether that involved boasting or show-boating at some times, or just giving me something to work on and look forward to, I really did enjoy that number.

This topic is really a two way street, with no end in sight. You either hate the idea of visual true skill ranks, or you want to see them implemented. My question, or the thoughts I have about this is, is it all worth it in the end?

Is it worth 343i losing any potential consumers because they failed to implement a visual in the game? I understand it may be a small amount who decide not to play the game because of this, but is it worth it? Would it be better if they added maybe lets say one playlist where you can see what your “visual” rank is?

The idea of them not implementing this into the game is so minute that it just doesn’t make sense. Clearly judging by these forums, along with several other message boards, this is something players want to see. Instead of losing potential fans 343, jsut throw in ranks into maybe lets say one playlist; a compromise so to speak. You don’t want to lose fans over something so small.

This essentially effects me because I want this game to last long. I want longevity in this game. Catering to players wants means this game with thrive longer. This equals a happy me, who doesn’t care about ranks, but just wants to see other people playing.

id rather have a 1-50 thats only visable to me and maybe people on your friends list. makes you competitive with your friends, allows you to see how you improved and ives you something to strive for

I like that idea. I just want to see some compromise give, because one again, I want this game to thrive.

They will be losing at first a small minority of players because of this, but that number will grow as people become bored with matchmaking, and the online playerbase will fall, just like it did in halo reach.

Put so well.

Ideally, I’d want 4 ranked playlists (lone wolves, team slayer, team skirmish, and BTB) but even just one would have shut most people up.

Let’s move all ranking discussion to an established thread, please?

Thanks!
