Title says it all. I’m part way through the book, and Halo 4’s release is around the corner. Would it be worth it to try to finish Cryptum and Promordium before its release?
I’m at the part where what I’m assuming is the Librarians fleet has just arrived at the Djamonkin Crater to try and retrieve the Didact for a purpose I do not know yet.
I really couldn’t stand those books. I read them anyway but they are mostly just a whole lotta’ nothing going on. The last 10 pages of each book are the only time I was ever on the edge of my seat.
I can’t get into Greg Bear’s writing style.
But pimordium…that had to have been one of the most boring books I have ever read. At least things happen in Cryptum
> Yes, definately.
I’ll second that, though I must warn you, Primordium is much slower paced than Cryptum. Still a good read though.
ooh, you’re still pretty early in the book then. You should definitely finish it.

Well I’ve thoroughly enjoyed what I’ve read of Cryptum so far so…not sure what to say to that…
If you’re in a rush, the synopsizes on Halopedia suffice. As others have said, they’re somewhat slow-paced, but shorter than they seem. It’s worth it to know what they have in them, through one way or another, before Halo 4, though.

Seriously Karen Traviss novels are a lot of diplomacy and talking too… I miss the days of Eric Nylund
YES.
IT’S AMAZING.
(to be fair, and this is true of Bear’s work in general, it takes a while to get to the good stuff, but it’s oh so good)

Yea. I LOVED First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx…
Well, thank you for the input gentlemen, I think I’ll get to reading.
Also, I don’t think this thread technically belongs in this forum…

Also, I don’t know if it’s just me, but it really helps keep you focused if you put on a playlist of Halo music while reading. I usually just use a mix of music from Halo: Legends and Halo 3.

Lol I’m always listening to it anyway.
I’m listening to ‘Infiltrate’ from the Halo 3 soundtrack right now.
I wish spotify had Reach’s soundtrack

yeah but the difference is that Karen Travis writes characters really well, better then even Eric Nylund does. But Eric Nylund writes the best action scenes ever and his books have the best pacing.
I really enjoyed Glasslands but Thursday War was somewhat of a drag. I realize Travis had to really slow the story because I don’t think 343 wanted her to reveal too much before Halo 4. It really shows in how slow the novel was.
