When using the spectate feature I have noticed that sometimes it will not start on the player I selected to spectate. After switching to the play I want to spectate I notice that after a death it will sometimes jump to another player(that may not even be on the same team). I thought maybe it would auto switch back after the current player dies, but it didn’t. Is this how it functions? To me it makes sense to follow the player I want and if I want to change it I will do so manually.
You might wanna go over to the support section for this. Spectate is pretty much a defunct, “live” version of Theater mode which in and of itself is notoriously broken in Halo 5. As I don’t regularly use the feature, I can’t tell you much about it other than what it is and how it works, but again, I strongly urge you to go over to the support section for stuff like this.
Theater has been broken probably since launch. I can’t remember it ever working right. Just try going in to view a game you got a JIP. Your GT doesn’t even show up. Your gameplay is under the person’s GT you replaced.

Thanks, I didn’t realize there was a support teamI could ask. I thought since it was in regards to Halo 5 it was best to ask here.

That stinks. I don’t normally use it myself, but it’s great to be able to view the game to see how a jump was done or where someone was camping. Too bad it doesn’t work right.
If a player quits then the camera will automatically shift to another player. Which means what you were seeing could have been a result of players rage quitting after a death.
