Is it so difficult to make DLC playlists?

The problem is, as they proved with Team Slayer, that when they make a playlist DLC required, nobody plays it.

The DLC is in regular playlists. If people actually bought the maps and played the game they would come up. Welcome to a dying game with such a divided fanbase that it would take the system way too long to match 8 people together that all have the maps. Want a better chance to get them? Party up with players that have the maps.

I don’t get you people at all.
I play a rather healthy dose of DLC maps. At least 1 of every 4 games I play is on a DLC map.
So why am I immune?

it seemed to work fine in the early h4 days. i remember playing wreckage literally every other game in btb. but i can’t honestly tell you the last time i played a dlc map. its upsetting. i love halo 4, and the dlc has some of the best maps in the game. sadly, we dont see em anymore.

Of course not, but getting people to actually play them is.

Yes the maps are on my hard drive and I can play them in custom games; problem is that no one else has the maps that I know of so I have no one to play custom games with. Honestly, making a DLC playlist or two wouldn’t hurt anyone who doesn’t have the DLC and make those who do a bit happier.

That has to be one of the dumbest questions I’ve heard in a long time. So we can actually play the maps we spent money on?

> DLC playlists used to exist, and historically, they’ve had some of the lowest populations of all the playlists. Why would you want them back?

Why we want them back? Because we want to play or DLC were we paid for, the DLC playlists may be low but atleast we had the chance to play or paid content. If they just bring back the rotational DLC playlist which gives us every 2 weeks a different DLC to play than I would be happy already. First 2 weeks Majestic, second 2 weeks Castle etc…

Look at halo 3. They made the mytic playlist which to this dat still exists and is played in halo 3.

The solution to 343s issues with this matter are right here and its so simple.

Make a permanent dlc grab bag playlist with infinity slayer, slayer and ctf.

Call it gypsy or some other name and give the people what they paid for.

If 343 is to follow in bungies footsteps they should copy their ideas a bit more because bungie was successful at making halo.

they could-eve just game us our monthy DLC rotation playlist back…

after all, that’s what they promised back in September…

ahh, but another promise broken 343…

Is it possible to get a refund for the map pack? I played for hours over the weekend and not once did any dlc map even appear for voting.

I enjoy the first two map packs but I have never been able to play any of the third map pack.

There is no realistic way for me to play on the maps I bought so I don’t think a refund is out of the question. Is there a way of contacting 343i. I don’t get any replies from bsangel or forum posts.

Nope, Microsoft policy.

I really think they should leave the DLC playlists in.

Even if they have very low populations of a few hundred, at least people who want to play them or try for the achievements have some way to do it.

If you pay money for extra maps you should be able to have a playlist available at all times which gives you a very high possibility of playing those maps.

As it is, people are put off the idea of buying future DLC map packs due to their bad experiences here.

EDIT: Sorry for double post, I should have edited my previous reply.

> Is it possible to get a refund for the map pack?

I’m afraid it’s not…

> There are no refunds for this item

However, for in-game content like this I think it would be a good idea for there to be a 24/48 hour cooling off period whereby after trying it you could return it and lose the licence on your machine (along with any achievements earned).

I think that would be a good thing and developers would soon learn if their content was not good enough from the number of returns.

However, this is off-topic for a Halo 4 forum and is more a general xbox discussion so I’ll say no more on the matter.

Heres a thought, go a head and start requiring DLC on a small scale, but also put said DLC on sale-its like what $10 a pack? bust it down to $5. Its ultimately a copy and paste, and while you may not get what you projected would cover development costs at least you get more sales volume to compensate…

Halo 2’s DLC didnt break above $5 If I recall for a single pack and it not only sold, but it kicked -Yoink-…

clearly at the current pricing, no one is buying, but if you drop the price, even temporarily, you might move your product better, and we get to play DLC instead of sitting here with a big pile of buyer’s remorse…

So people that bought the DLC can play it.

Seriously what kind of dumb question is that?

It’s so agonizingly simple: have a permanent hopper for each. So:

Team Slayer
Team DLC (rotates between the small team maps)
Big Team Battles
Big Team DLC (same for big team)

That’d get me to purchase the DLC, despite 343’s terrible mismanagement practices.

Toss in a sale? $5 instead of too-much-10, and I’ll be snapping up the DLC like hotcakes.

But, with no support, no effort, and no care for the community, I’ll continue to pass.

“The DLC playlist populations were always low” My response to that?

“So what?”

Yeah, the populations were low compared to other populations, but at least it gave people a chance to actually play the DLC maps in matchmaking. There’s always a playlist that has a low population; it’s unavoidable. There needs to be a DLC playlist, cause otherwise, there’s really no reason for anyone to buy the map packs now, is there?

The “low population” excuse doesn’t work with me. This is the same crap that was pulled with Reach. Good luck ever playing Breakneck or Timberlands in Reach now that Anniversary Big Team is gone, or any DLC big-team map for that matter. There are 3 DLC achievements I have for Reach that are near impossible to get due to how rare DLC maps appear in regular matchmaking.

And the “you can always play the maps in Custom Games” doesn’t work either. Not everyone has a bunch of people on there friends list that has Halo 4, or plays it often. And even if you do, it’s quite possible that they wont have the maps either, or they’ll want to play a more unique Custom Game than just Slayer.

343i either should make a dedicated DLC playlist (where you must have all the maps) or dramatically reduce the price of the map packs to get more people to buy them. Otherwise, the money we spent on their map packs are being wasted if we aren’t able to play them.

Personally I’m sickened, I literally have spent the last 10 hours of my day off trying to play at least ONE of the new maps, having purchased the Champions Bundle this morning. Not one, nada, zilch. That’s wrong.

> DLC playlists used to exist, and historically, they’ve had some of the lowest populations of all the playlists. Why would you want them back?

Best thing would be that they increase the chances of getting matched with people who’s bought the DLC in matchmaking or that they make popular playlists DLC only.
