Every bulletin I see BSangel saying that they are still finding the best way to implement DLC into matchmaking. We got Majestic as a requirement for Team Slayer, and I was happy to a certain degree, but that got removed as it wasn’t working out. Fair enough. So now that they’ve worked that out, can they just make some DLC playlists? DLC BTB would be enough. I’ve literally seen DLC come up once in normal matchmaking since the Majestic map pack came out. Haven’t played anything from Castle since the playlist was removed.
So, DCL BTB:
All maps from Crimson and Castle, Slayer, Dominion, King of the Hill and Capture the flag.
One other thing, if they made Majestic compulsory for Team Slayer again and made the map pack FREE then all would fine. I already payed for it, but I’d be more than happy to see it go up for free. I get to play my maps, playlist still gets population. 343 have made all the money they’re going to make from that map pack (Give or take a few new buyers, god help them) so why not?
Really hope DLC is implemented better soon and handled better for Halo 5 as well.
> DLC playlists used to exist, and historically, they’ve had some of the lowest populations of all the playlists. Why would you want them back?
Because 343 have proven that forcing players to own DLC to play a playlist isn’t going to work with Halo 4, so it’s the best option left. Oddly enough, I’d quite like to play the maps I payed £20 for, seeing as they never show up in matchmaking.

You can play them whenever you want in customs or Forge. You own the maps and can do with them what you want; it’s not like the purchase was a rip-off.

If this were Halo 3 then I would agree with you as customs were rampant in that game. However do to the poor game and map choices in custom games, they have all but died out. And you can’t get the achievements in custom games. You can only get them in matchmaking. Effectively making those who enjoy hearing the “bleep bloop” thrown to the side in order to appeal to the few people who still play this game but haven’t bought the DLC (although seriously, if you are still playing the game at this point in its slow death, why haven’t you bought the DLC?!).

Oh! I don’t know maybe I want to get all the achievements. I paid for the dlc, so I should get to play those maps. According to the playlist info on this the only playlist to have all castle maps is CTF. I’ve searched for 20 games in CTF today, only one of them having a dlc map in the lineup which was a majestic map. I don’t care about the low population in dlc playlists; I want to play what I paid extra for!
> Oh! I don’t know maybe I want to get all the achievements.
How come you waited so long? I made sure to get all the Achievements as soon as the maps came out because I knew that I probably wouldn’t get a chance later on.
> I paid for the dlc, so I should get to play those maps.
They’re on your Xbox’s hard drive, and you can play on them whenever you want.
Really, the problem is that you bought a product that almost no one else bought, and therefore are having trouble finding others who own that product. This isn’t directly 343i’s fault (although I will agree that extra content needs to be handled better by the video game development industry in general). Several years ago, there was a massive battle between Blu-ray and HD DVD; Blu-ray won, and now everyone’s HD DVDs and HD DVD players are useless. It’s no one’s fault that it happened; it’s just the way things are.

I have all achievements except the Castle Map Pack achievements. I was unable to get the Castle achievements, because I was in Army Basic Training when Castle Maps were released and after I was sent to Advanced Individual Training. I didn’t have Xbox Live access from April to the middle of August.
When I said, " I should get to play those maps". I forgot to clarify, I should get to play those maps in matchmaking. I couldn’t give a rip about custom games; I would rather play matchmaking. I wouldn’t mind so much if I could get the achievements while playing custom games, but I can’t. I don’t care how many people didn’t buy the dlc, they need to make dlc playlists for the people who did.
The DLC is in regular playlists. If people actually bought the maps and played the game they would come up. Welcome to a dying game with such a divided fanbase that it would take the system way too long to match 8 people together that all have the maps. Want a better chance to get them? Party up with players that have the maps.
it seemed to work fine in the early h4 days. i remember playing wreckage literally every other game in btb. but i can’t honestly tell you the last time i played a dlc map. its upsetting. i love halo 4, and the dlc has some of the best maps in the game. sadly, we dont see em anymore.
Yes the maps are on my hard drive and I can play them in custom games; problem is that no one else has the maps that I know of so I have no one to play custom games with. Honestly, making a DLC playlist or two wouldn’t hurt anyone who doesn’t have the DLC and make those who do a bit happier.
> DLC playlists used to exist, and historically, they’ve had some of the lowest populations of all the playlists. Why would you want them back?
That has to be one of the dumbest questions I’ve heard in a long time. So we can actually play the maps we spent money on?
> DLC playlists used to exist, and historically, they’ve had some of the lowest populations of all the playlists. Why would you want them back?
Why we want them back? Because we want to play or DLC were we paid for, the DLC playlists may be low but atleast we had the chance to play or paid content. If they just bring back the rotational DLC playlist which gives us every 2 weeks a different DLC to play than I would be happy already. First 2 weeks Majestic, second 2 weeks Castle etc…
