is it possible to have fun In halo 5 social?

is it possible to play halo 5 social without having to be a tryhard every match?

No, sadly. Social games still use a loosely based MMR matchmaking system making it impossible to go against easy/easier opponents if you want to play casually.

You can play social without try hard with fun, as long you dont… you know, freak out so easily, the previous Halo CE map thing, i had a lot of fun eventhough my team still lost :>

Yup, if you don’t mind losing.

I need to play drunk, high, and with friends to have fun on Halo now

Yes, get drunky pants or white girl wasted.

Of course. Try-hard is simply a mindset people choose or don’t choose for their gameplay mentality. Just relax and don’t sweat the match outcome or personal performance as much. Just try to find enjoyment in other aspects of the match gameplay.

Not really which is why I rarely play Halo 5 now

Well, I was playing Super Fiesta (Party) where I came across players that would camp corners with rockets and then -Yoink!- me after blowing me up…so there’s that. LOL

Nope. I havent had a easy match since 2017. While grinding to 152 im only playing wzff. Arena simply isnt fun anymore since you need to play ranked even in social.

For me, it’s no longer possible to have fun in H5 social arena for these reasons:

  • It is full of sweats and otherwise annoying players. And yes, that includes people who wear the Achilles armor (don’t jump on me for saying this) - The modes eventually get boring after a while - I have already maxed out most of my commendations, and I don’t have the motivation to even try to complete the rest of them

I honestly believe that all MM problems(excluding things having to do with lag, servers, aim etc) all stem from 1 problem source.

Low population

My team mates suck! Why is MM giving me these guys!?
Low population

Why am I fighting against people across the world!?
Low population

Why the heck am I a plat player facing onyx!?
Low population

Why the heck is quick play full of sweatsauce Mcgee’s!?
Low population. This is now considered the unannounced OFFICIAL warm up play list. Thats stacked on top of low population

So all of that has to be taken at face value. Someone can go into social and play pretty normally…and end up with over half their teams kills or more…while everyone in the lobby is screaming try hard loser…meanwhile the dude is just playing normally. MM just decided to put a better player there because of Low population.

So it isn’t so much that everyone is a mega try hard…I mean…if the objective is to get kills and you’re upset someone is getting kills…I don’t really get the issue. The better players just end up in the match as a consequence of low population.

I get it though. Trust me. Its not fun going into quick play for example because you’re feeling tired as heck after a long day of work…really want to play halo for the sake of a few quick matches without a team…and the game loads up a lobby with the other team having champions in the match when you’ve never even came close to that tier. Not to mention there isn’t even an onyx nor champ on the losing team. I’ve seen it first hand lol

So to me…having fun in halo comes from playing with others. This game is way too stressful alone imo.

I think it’s more fun than MCC.

Pretty much impossible OP. What Halo 5 “thinks” a good match for me opponent wise is pretty much hardcore players. I’m average at best, have no idea how it’s ended up this way in social but it has.

The community population for Halo 5 is now a significantly reduced fraction of what it once was.

At this point in the games cycle & lifespan. Tryhards are the dedicated players that remain. Sure casual players still occasionally play. But when you have a large percentage of the community grinding hundreds of matches for rank or to place in high skill tiers. Issue is social is now just ranked warmup.

Social slayer map rotations in mcc rule! Sans halo 3

I only play social and have fun every game. I don’t take it too serious though. Win 50/50. Ranked play i don’t much enjoy as there is a lot of player negativity.

Honestly… unless it’s action sack, I don’t spend too much time in social arena anymore for a few reasons. Keep in mind most of my gripes have to do with super fiesta or BTB super fiesta.

First… match making. When I started out, I was a firm believer in the search preference option at the top of the playlist selection screen. I always leave it on “focused” because I truly want to play against people my own ability level. However that never happens. I haven’t done my own research on this, but several people have told me they changed the match making parameters not too long ago and they don’t really use that anymore. Well… I shouldn’t be spending 3 of my 4 hours of gameplay time just trying to get my arena win. I get that it needs to be challenging and wouldn’t mind it if it took a couple of matches or whatever, but that’s just insane.

Second… Randomness. Whatever algorithm or engine or whatever they use to determine random weapons, gametype and map is complete and utter garbage. That same night that took me 3 hours just to get an arena win, I got 7 Husky Raids and 3 Slayer matches. I thought the purpose of the randomness was to mix up the different maps and match types in super fiesta. I haven’t gotten an Oddball match is about 2-3 weeks. In that same time span, I’ve only gotten 1 strongholds match. As someone who is still trying to finish comms (I know I know… I didn’t start MP till end of July 2020), I was really excited when I heard about the random game types and that they were an easy way to finish game type specific comms. However… I still have some to still finish… and that’s mostly because I hardly ever get those game types anymore… Part of the allure of the random game types was that it broke up the monotony of grinding for xp, playing various match types instead of the same one over and over again while earning xp, well, not so much anymore. Weapons are another big problem for me. Too many matches have I spawned with say a scattershot and shotgun, or a plasma pistol and lightrifle, meanwhile, the other team is getting nothing but snipers and rocket launcher of varying types. The usual response I get it “well… you just have to learn to strategize”. I’m sorry, but there’s nothing for me to do if I’m in a Husky Raid with a plasma pistol and a light rifle, and the other team is camping our spawn with 2 snipers while someone else on there team has rockets. There’s no fun in that, and it’s even worse when they don’t want to play the objective and just spawn kill most of the match. And before you nay sayers get started, this isn’t limited to CTF… it’s in all the different social arenas I’ve played in (that do random weapons obviously).

The only time I really go into area at this point is for my arena win, and if they happen to have a good featured playlist that week, mainly action sack and castle wars. Other than that, I stick to firefight and warzone. And the xp is better too, as someone who’s almost half way to 151, xo is somewhat important to me.

It is against forum rules to post single word answers, but I will post my opinion in an altered format. No.

The only way to have fun is by creating a new account, and that is talking about more since the fun will only last about 2 to 3 games
