I was wondering is it possible to create a set of challenges during the first minute of the Oni Sword base challenge grind and when you finish are you able to redeem them? Or do I have to start a game with the challenges active prior to starting a grind?
You can create them mid-game, as long as the game doesn’t end before you finish making them.
Like it is said you can make them mid game. Actually i one hand Oni while setting up the challenges so im not just sitting around restarting checkpoint. makes it fly by.
Are we talking about setting up campaign kills custom challenges and reverting to the last checkpoint whenever the designator strike hits and kills a big group of enemies?

For the campaign challenges you have to exit the current game you are in. Challenges only update when you exit the game and it sends a link to waypoint with all the information of your previous campaign game (regarding campaign). I don’t believe you can stay in the game and make new challenges.
However an alternative that I use is set it up for matchmaking you get more Cr and dont have to exit games or finish games for it to count. You can open up a laptop or create challenges by waypoint app. I usually play swat and make a headshot challenge once its finished turn it in make another and keep playing.
