Is it possible to be a pro with Recon controls?

For over 5 years now I’ve been used to meleeing with B and reloading with RB, but if it’s a bad competitive control sceme I can try to change…

Being a pro has almost nothing to do with your control scheme. But I don’t think Recon is a very good one. Most people I know play on either default or bumper myself preferring the latter.

I’ve been using recon forever and I’m way too set in my ways to change now, but the people I play with who are crazy good use bumper jumper. They’d probably be good no matter what they used, but I have to think that the ability to jump and look at the same time gives you a big advantage in close-quarters combat.

I’ve been using the old Walkie Talkie button scheme since Halo 3.

A - Jump
B - Action/Reload Right Weapon
X - Reload/Swap Left Weapon
Y - Swap Weapons
Left Analog Click - Crouch
Right Analog Click - Zoom View
Right Trigger - Use Right Weapon
Left Trigger - Use Left Weapon
Up on Directional Pad - Use Equipment
Right Bumper - Melee Attack
Left Bumper - Team Chat
X + B + A + ↓ D-Pad + Left Analog Click - Lower Weapon (Only works in Local or System Link)
X + B + A + ↑ D-Pad + Left Analog Click - Display Co-ordinates (Only works in Local or System Link)

Once Halo Reach came out, they used this layout as Default and with Halo 4. There is no real pro button layout, but this one works well for me!

Recon is love Recon is life

Most pros now are using controllers that are similar to the Scuff that have paddles underneath that can control the ABXY buttons. With those style controllers it honestly doesnt matter what you use any more as you can access all of the buttons easily without lifting your thumbs off the sticks. As for what pros use…its pretty varied. The one thing that most of them do use thats similar is look sensitivity, most being in the range of 3-5.

Bumper jumper for life. Jumping without taking your finger off the aiming stick is highly recommended. A for jump is highly inefficient

you could just go default control scheme then hold the controller claw method. if you don’t know what that is just google “xbox controller claw method” then go to images.

can i haz recon?

I used to use claw but BJ is a lot more comfortable
