Say if I don’t want to play a certain map/gametype. Will it hurt my rank if i quit out before the game actually starts?

dont think so but could be wrong
If you leave before it starts then yes, you’re good and someone else fills the spot.
i don’t know why people need to do it just because of disliking it, I’ve always thought toughing it out would be the better solution.
Your rank? No.
Your dignity? Absolutely.
Is the map Orion?
If so - then yes it’s ok.
If not - say in and help your team.

In my experience that hasn’t been the case. Once the option to leave matchmaking goes away and the dedicated server gets made, I’ve never seen anyone new join the game if someone else dashboards to quit that game. I’ve begun Arena games that start from the get-go with uneven teams.

I thought it worked, never tried it myself cuz I just play through stuff, even if I dislike it.
i hear people do it and are able to avoid getting bans. Do the servers start up as soon as it shows the map and mode?

If I’m remembering correctly, once all players are found, the next message is “starting dedicated server”. At that point, the option to press B to back out of matchmaking goes away. During this time, the map and gametype information eventually appears on the screen, then the prompt eventually changes to “Deploying” once the server is up.
I’ve also heard of people doing this to avoid bans, but not recently. Either way, once the dedicated server begins setting up, I don’t think the game does any more matching (unless JIP is supported).
It’s a bit of a no-no to quit at the beginning of a match. Whether or not you realized it was a losing match, a bad map, an undesired game mode, or some other factor, that would be up to your descretion.
Then again, it may sometimes be necessary bail out to maintain personal integrity in the long run.
It’s not exactly a moral dilemma is it? Even if there weren’t terrible maps and game types.

You can leave if the number still says 4/4 when loading the map teams and etc. You can quit the app have some inv you etc. Your rank don’t suffer but you’re leaving the team behind and screwing them over. I would only so this is you have a full team ahead of time and you all back out
Meh, just make sure if you leave someone takes your place k

If your receiving a DNF for it then I would say its going to have some sort of negative impact on your rank. And if not then the very least your setting yourself up for a Ban! If your rank doesn’t get effected and you receive a DNF for the game then you have to decided if a Ban or DNF is worth the reward. You also have to remember overtime that your reputation may also get impacted by this. Then that opens up a all new can of worms for you. Is it worth the gamble…
Zippy.

Just today both teams got kicked before the game started. All of us got a DNF and I deranked. It says the game lasted over a minute but nobody came close to setting foot on Mercy. You take your chances with the law.
No… just play the game.
Leaving before a match starts will count against you and can even earn you a temporary suspension from match making. You have been warned.

I had the same thing happen, but the game actually did last about two minutes before it dropped all eight players and there was no record of the game ever happening. No W, no L, and no DNF. No stats for the game anywhere… It’s a AAA FPS with a Pro league tho right?
I think if 343 designed a put-put golf course it would have cellophane over all the holes and they would just sit and laugh at us. But it would have mini transactions to customize your putter, clothes, etc. They’re laughing right now. Can you hear it? Can’t take any of it too seriously really.
can say for arena but for warzone. once I kept closing the game to play on the beach map and I closed the game on the loading screen. After 6 to 7 quits the game banned me from matching… so just dont do it too often.
Should be fine
