… or is anyone else struggling with the matchmaking on Halo 2/Halo 5 Beta?
I used to be awesome (not to blow my own trumpet), Reach was where it all started for me and 4 was much of the same. Especially with Reach, there was rarely a game where i didn’t come out on top. I thought I’d mastered war games and from now on, I’d always be, at the very least, pretty good at it.
But I just cannot seem to succeed with the Halo 2 multiplayer and the Halo 5: Guardians Beta. I’m using all the same styles and tactics I always have and I’m coming out bad each time. 10 kills is a pretty successful game for me on The MCC. I’ve been at it since the release and I’m no better at all, I’m generally slaughtered everytime.
Is it just because all the pros and whatnot are playing all the time and not enough moderate players? Or are the weapons/melee different in terms of damage they give? Were the more recent games just a little easier for players?
Those who have been playing for years through all the games have gotten to adapt with the times and adjust as each new game comes out, as well as maintaining their core skill that they’ve been able to return to with The Master Chief Collection. But the matchmaking I’ve been playing for the last few years seems to have gone now. We went from 2 and 3, to Reach and 4, and it now feels like we’re officially back with 2 and we’ve taken a step back (not in terms of quality or anything, just a step back to an older way of doing things). Of course there’s a huge community of players that have welcomed back this old way of playing, t’s great for those to go back who used to play it, but for some reason this is the way things are going to be indefinitely it appears.
I absolutely love Halo, every aspect of it, but these games keep knocking my confidence to play online completely. It used to be a fairly big part of my Halo experience, and although I’ll always love and follow and everything Halo (books, games, comics, etc), I don’t know what I can do other than try to adjust and take the battering for a while. It’s just too frustrating at times to enjoy it when I’m constantly dying.
It’d be great to hear if anyone else is struggling to adapt to this multiplayer after Reach and 4 (without being called a noob).
Thanks
