Is it just me or does anyone seem the get paired with champions in all ranked playlist all the time? I’ve used the balanced and focused options to try an midi-gate this but it seems to be pointless
Matchmaking works, when it has enough people to match make.
Two main issues here:
1.) This game is old and no longer being supported. They aren’t fixing servers, patching bugs or releasing new content. The game shall remain the same and not change. All eyes are to Infinite now. The only change in this game will be the competitive seasons and weekly playlists. A lot of players have moved onto other games.
2.) Halo 5 is unpopular due to how 343 handled it. It doesn’t carry nostalgia or replay value for a lot of people. Certainly hurts the population.
Meaning Halo 5 only has a community the fraction of the size it once was. The remaining marginal community is dedicated players. They tend to be really good as they are chasing ranks or chasing skill divisions. Hence why out of the small available community, the matchmaking is being forced to make inbalanced games. The alternative is not matching people at all. Sad but it is what it is.
Unfortunately the game will continue with that way of matching since it stopped receiving support since 2017 and as the spartan above said, they are now only focused on infinite halo, therefore it is practically impossible to have a balanced game.

The matchmaking system for Halo 5 is amazingly advanced, but like all SBMM it needs a big enough population at all the various levels. Sadly now playlists are dominated by top and bottom end.
Odd considering on an average of a couple of games I can encounter 5-6 players who are either unranked or at least in diamond, the last 2-3 always seem to onyx of champion level players. It’s odd considering playing to place in any ranked in all 10 games I came across at least 3 on the enemy team every time, so it seems like it can match people against those equal of skill or just seems like doesn’t regardless of population size. It’s just unfortunate.
it sucks, trying to get back into halo 5 is just a nightmare rn.

There’s too many people creating new accounts to get nice pretty stats and hit a higher rank easier without the drawback of MMR history. The highest you can place is also in the daimond tier. So if a daimond player plays like a champ and you notice they’re on game 11 of this season, it pretty much explains itself.
As others have said, the population is the problem. On top of that we have stuff like derankers, the low rank (good player in disguise) joining high ranked players to give them easier matches…a champ and plat duo that tells his plat friend to leave any match not winnable to protect the rank…and like above…the unranked low SR players that will derank the heck out of you when you lose to them because the game hasn’t properly calculated their mmr yet.
Halo 5 is awesome though. When you stop caring about dumb stats and just play for enjoyment (not saying that you do, just talking in general), to get better, meet and play with new players to learn from and make teams and all that stuff…thats where it’s at man.
So if you haven’t already, send out invites and use your mic man. The unfortunate thing about having a 4 man team is the game punishes losses HARD…but playing this game alone is cancer.
The player base must have really dropped lmao. This is the third thread in the past 3 or 4 days about this. The sweats got what they wanted, and it only came at the cost of running everyone else out of multiplayer.
