Is it just me? Is 343 screwing with Breakout in Arena? Here is story:
log in/start game, - skip Daily Message since it’s crap recycled poo from a week ago. - open Multi player. - open arena matchmaking. - In lobby about 2-3 min. Join a NEW…oh snap didn’t get the count down timer… Join GAME IN PROGRESS. - Joined team losing 4-0… get killed trying to get other team within seconds of start of round… - Watch other on team quickly get killed… Lose match… 5-0. - I get dinged for a lose in my record…
WTF?? I played One round of a lopsided match… - My real question is this, Does anyone know if this is a normal thing for non ranked matches… Or is this a new BS thing 343 is trying out?
For un-ranked playlists there seems to be a good chance to be put into games in progress. These generally are lopsided games as the enemy team leading causes people to quit.

No clue why they removed the rankings from Breakout. I can’t play it without feeling extremely competitive.

Yeah, I hear you on that front. I play breakout now only as a Warm up to SWAT. Competitive Break out it is now NOT. Not even lasting a full year as a NEW game type and keeping it’s ranked status, makes me question 343 in other Multi player arena settings. I personally think 343 dropped the ball in making 2v2 ranked in breakouts sted. Break out got the community to make 5 new maps… not even 6 months later, unranked game play… interesting choose 343.

This pretty much. I hate join-in-progress system in general, especially when it comes to games like Halo (small team combat). 343 needs to get rid of this system from Arena.

at least you played one round, sometimes I just join to wait for next round but its just a Game over screen. Didn’t even get to play a -Yoinking!- round.

Yeahh dude, I get that a lot too… Break out needs to be moved back to Ranked rules. It’s a fun quick match to get warmed up on… or just simply waste a few hours working strategies. Practice and what not… But heck with the unranked Break out. 343 killed its enjoyment of it for me.

tell that to the part of the community that whined that it didnt exist. The point of having it was to make sure that all sides had a full team and you wouldnt get lopsided like you do in ranked (which isnt fun for the team with less men) now you got those individuals (in social of course) complaining that all their games are lopsided and they are getting stomped/farmed/not having fun. They are not going to please every side of the community but I would garuntee that a majority of the community would prefer JIP just because there tends to be more individuals in a team with a man down then those that JIP.

breakout is fun as hell. But its low population and impossible commendations ruined it for me.

There is a lot of population playing Breakout. And It’s not impossible to get commendations. Getting better at the basics spartan charge and Ground pounds will help you in getting more commendations per round and pergame. nadeshot’s helps too. All I am saying is you can. I am not the best player but I keep trying to improve on atleast something per game.

Yes it kinda makes sense. When you join a heavily unfair match, chances are you will be requested to fill the spot of someone who quit because the game was not going their way. Most of the time I join a match in progress, I join a team that is losing heavily.

Does this happen in Big Team Battle(BTB) too? I don’t play much of that and do not recall it ever once happening to me there during start up, BTB has never been Ranked… So why 343 changed Breakout match making start up to games in progress, I do not know, nor Care for. I Don’t even think it’s fair to the losing team if the “team mate joined” just stands there and doesn’t even try just adding to the misery and more time to the lose.
If done right, getting added to a losing team can spark the team into going from 4-0 turning the tide to winning 4-5. I’ve been apart of both and it’s really enjoyable to come off the bench and win 5 in a row having your back to the wall so to speak.
I always found fresh matches in BTB. However there was just one time when I joined a losing team in CTF mid game. I don’t remember the details, but I joined the losing team.
