Is it fair that you only get 50 credits for making a Forge map?

As a huge fan of Halo Reach’s forge, i have spent a lot of my weekend time trying to construct really cool maps to battle on. However, after HOURS of construction and adding details, i go to quit and I only recieve 50 credits. 50. Credits. Thats all i get for all the time i spent. To me, that is Completely unfair. Whats your opinion on this?

I think making a great forge map that’s fun to play on should be reward enough.

What rank are you?

Ranked Sergeant, eh? All custom games (including campaign & forge) are set up that way. It simply is what it is, whether it’s fair or not is debatable.

Ω

Forge is for building maps, idk why you even get anything.

If the payout for sitting in forge was high, people would easily take advantage of it and sit in a forge game for hours and walk away.

I’m currently a Hero, and I get about 248 credits for Forge. It seems to go up with your rank, it might be based on a percentage or something. In any case, Forge and Customs are their own reward, it’s not really about the credits.

I wouldn’t mind if they raised the payout, though. With Custom Challenges and higher MM payouts, it wouldn’t be detrimental to give non-mm credits a raise. People are still going to boost Custom Challenges and FF because it’s the quicker way anyway, so who cares if it’s raised?

Agreed

Also, de-nerf Campaign credits, because that actually was a buying factor for me when the game came out

It’s to stop boosting. people would otherwise leave forge on do next to nothing and get heaps of credits. I’m an Eclipse, I get about 410 Cr per forge (rank determines credit earning). A better way to get credits for forge would be credit bonuses for maps that get good reviews and multiple downloads, but unfortunately that could be boosted too. So until a better system is in place, forge will give next to no credits.

It’s caused, as mention above, by Bungie’s attempt to prevent boosting. They made a flawed system and the only way to stop the complaints was an equally flawed fix. Hopefully 343i will learn from this and produce a better system.

You think that’s bad, I only get credits in campaign anymore from game complete which barely scratches past 300, and support role commendation. 5 Credits per assist. I could get a -Yoink- load of assists, but I refuse to farm the campaign.

Look at it this way.

Say you get 20 credits per item you put on the map. You go to a map like forge world. place 100 items. In a minute you make 2,000 credits for just dropping items on a map. Do it for an hour. 120,000 credits. How is that fair?

If they pay you for time spent, you could just lay your controller upside down, making you fly around all game, and make a ton of credits while AFK.

Basicly, any form of playing that can get you a ton of credits that the player controls is a bad idea. You get something for your time, that and the ability to make your own map should be enough.

why does anyone care about whether the credit system is fair? Its a reward for attendance not achievement; its “an A for effort” system. Boosting should not be prevented or even discouraged as credit rank has no bearing on the matchmaking side of the game AT ALL. If you want to spend your time boosting in forge I say go ahead.

as soon as your account is connected to xbox live the amount of credits u get per a game of anything offline are null and the reason they dont up the credits for forge is becuz people will just go into forge and go afk to credit boost and the only possible solution i see is that you only earn alot of credits in forge if your actually moving/building etc. even though im not sure if 343 could do this somehow…

Making well thought out maps is something that should be encouraged via higher cR payouts and potentially unlocks or achievements. Forgers are important to the community.

Welcome to Waypoint =)

how would the game determine a “well thought out map”?

I think credits are a terrible way to rewards players for their forging efforts (not that they shouldn’t get credits). I would much rather have had a custom game lobby where forgers could showcase their maps.

every time you get a DL you get 1,000 Cr would encourage people to make maps and get involved in forge communities.

I guess. But in order for that to work it would have to track unique downloads, otherwise I’d just have my buds download it over and over again.

The simplest answer is to not care about boosting and have forge spit out credits like the online game modes.

It depends on your rank…

I can spend 10 minutes in a Forge match and earn 300+ cR for a Forge session.

(I’m a Noble, almost an Eclipse).

As said above, it gets a lot more the higher your rank, as a Reclaimer you get 554 cR for any non-Matchmaking game.
