If you want Permanents, yes. Silvers give 2 Perm cards for half the price of Golds which also give only 2 Perms. But you only get Rare cards maximum in Silvers, so for Ultra Rare, Legendary and Mythic cards you need to go with Golds. And Golds don’t get common cards, just uncommons and up. Depends on what you want. If you want to get Ultra Rare and Legendary stuff you should get Gold packs. If you just want more unlocks and don’t care that much about the higher rarity items then you should get Silver packs.
I know the gold packs go to a higher tier of rarity but they start down at the rarity found in silver packs. I’ve been getting much better stuff out of silver packs.
I was only going to buy gold ones but after a couple of ultra rare helmets that I didn’t need or want I switched to silver and have been getting great certifications for upgraded weapons. so I think I’m gonna stick with buying just silvers until I get all that I can unlock from those and then move to gold so the packs have no choice but to give me good stuff. it’s a mathematical advantage to eliminate all of the silver pack leveled stuff first.

Getting ALL silvers, first, will save you like millions on points in the long term.
Better if you are a warzoner, for sure, as silver pack will have certifications more often than not.
But gold can get those legendaries, but you might also get you know, two rare certs.
So, get all the silvers you can, as it’s eats away at the base rare permanent unlocks, and then, your golds will get you all the best stuff… and you save millions in Req in the long run.

There are about 20 reddit threads on how Silver is more economical. You wont get Legendary, Mythic or Ultra Rare stuff BUT you will get a lot of dukey rares out of the queue AND the boosts you get(you’ll get a lot more) will help you progress to Rank 40. WHICH at rank 40 you get Silver Pack drops!! Meaning by then it will be more economical to buy Gold.
I’ve bought roughly an even amount of gold and silver so far. The silvers give me nothing but trash while I get visors and armor mods from gold. So I’ll be ditching silver.

Just saying, most of the reqs you’ll be using can be pulled from bronze and silver packs. Golds get you some pretty armour and variants of weapons you already have but seldom do I see weapon variants in Warzone. It’s usually just the base version. And it’s cheaper so there’s a bonus.

Last saturday i went and counted all the common - rare items i still needed and worked out how many silver packs i need to finish them off before going for golds, i need about 100, then once thats done im garanteed ultra rare and above from golds!
So buying silvers until you have everything rare and below is a far easier/quicker way pf unlocking everything

Currently i only have 1 DMR unlocked, and what frustrates me is its a rare req level 8 one… I got it in a silver pack but can rarely use it.
i just want the vanilla DMR but still not had it yet.
If youre trying to get everything in the game, then silver is probably better up until you’ve got all the common through rare permanent unlocks.
If you’re chasing an ultra rare through legendary anything, then you gotta go gold
