Here we are and Halo Infinite has been out for a few months now. We still don’t have forge, any new maps, the weapons are SO BROKEN, and its glitchy as hell.
How is this a AAA game and we have this many problems? Sometimes I have to shut off my Xbox 6 times for Halo to connect to the servers.
Wheres the Fuel Rod Cannon? Why do all the new power weapons do so little damage? WHERE IS BLOOD GULCH!
They never said forge was coming “in a few months.” Before launch they said it was a ways out.
This isn’t surprising. Maps take time. We already know there’s quite a few in development based on leaks. So no, maps aren’t a sign that the game is “dead”
Howso?
Sure. They’ve been making updates and have addressed this. There was a huge dev post about it.
This post is just a rant. Nothing in here has anything to do with Halo being dead.
Now, my opinion. It’s certainly not dead, but it absolutely isn’t living up to what a “live service game” should be. There should’ve been a roadmap in January and now we’re in March. Which is just a catastrophic failure for a live service game.
I hope that 343 is figuring out their management woes, because it seems the troubled development of Infinite didn’t end when the game launched.
I will admit that this is a rant. That part is true.
The specific weapons that I think are broken are these:
Heatwave, cindershot, and Ravager: For power weapons, they don’t kill nearly fast enough. I should be able to 1-2 shot you if its a true power weapon just like the sword, gav hammer, rockets, sniper, skewer.
Bulldog: Needs a damage boost for when you are close, like in the past. It should be the counter to the sword but currently it’s not.
My main concern was that 343 will make changes and will make new maps and the people wont really be there for us to take advantage of it. I enjoy the game but it is hard to play the same 5 multiplayer maps over and over again.
I wouldn’t say dead but no where remotely close to the player count during December. As an example, if you use the LFG feature on Xbox back in December you’d see over 500+ posts. Fast forward to today, I haven’t seen the LFG posts break 100.
Please consult Lawbreakers, Evolve or Battleborn for a detailed explanation of what a “dead game” looks like.
Halo Infinite isn’t doing well, but it’s far from dead. Steam puts it very low in player counts, but Microsoft’s game chart puts it within the top 10 games played by popularity.
Borderlands 2 came out in 2012 and averages about 3.7k players daily with a peak of 123k, Splitgate is at 2.1k players daily with a peak of 67k. They’re not “popular” titles, but hardly dead ones at player counts far less than what Infinite is at. General rule is that if you can find a game within 120 seconds of searching for one, the game is in a healthy state for players actively playing that title.
People who ask about whether or claim a game is dead have never seen a dead game, nor do they exercise a modicum of effort to understand why the one they question isn’t.
Its dead because there has barely been any content added in the 3.5 months its been out. The real question is if 343 can revive it because I cant see them doing anything to bring back the majority of players who quit
I got the WQ for Destiny, that is how boring it actually is. The game has no life to it, and before it released I was hoping to actually have an actual game to play, but instead we got a broke beta.
Rainbow 6 was almost the same way and became one of the most played games for multiple years and still has a strong base. The 10 year plan is definitely still viable they just need regular 3 month seasons from here on out.
Very low player counts on Steam, which has public statistics and tracking, but top 10 on Microsoft— the publisher’s— website which has no publicly available statistics to support it.
On a separate note, simply tracking the number of accounts that log into the game each day isn’t generally a valid measurement of player activity either. Some people just log in to see if there’s an event or weekly challenge that seems worth doing, which can easily inflate the player counts.
How do the guns not doing as much damage as you think they should mean they’re broken? The heatwave and cindershot are both excellent weapons and only of those, the cindershot is the only power weapon and it does kill in two shots and has significant range.
The bulldog is not the shotgun from previous Halos, in fact in most cases, it’s better except in point blank ranges since it has pretty great range whereas the old shotgun had next to none and a much slower fire rate. Halo isn’t a rock, paper, scissors game. There are a few counters to weapons but nothing explicit. The repulsor is currently the main power weapon counter and it takes skill to use as it should be.
I only hang around these forums to see how much justified abuse this game is still fuelling. 343 knowingly released this game in a state that would anger the fans. In 343’s case they went with a business model that was guaranteed to upset the fans. That doesn’t sound like a company that gives a damn for it’s fans or the franchise but they happily launched Infinite in such a sorry state knowingly
I’m not sure how people have any respect for them quite honestly at this point
Actually, I see what you mean about Blood Gulch. That map is essentially pre-balanced, and they already made an upscaled version of it for Infinite in the form of Fragmentation. It would have required virtually zero effort for them to port it over.
of course, there’s probably a lot more to it than I know about that would have made it a good deal more difficult than It looks from the outside. All things said and done, as long as classic maps like Blood Gulch do make a return somewhere along the line we won’t have much to complain about.
I consider a game dead once it’s hard to find games. So far it still seems pretty instant so even though there are many that are quitting, it’s definitely not dead. However I think it will get there if this trend continues. They need to get their act together fast and I’m not sure they can do it in time. It seems 343i is a complete mess of a studio. Shame too because there’s so much potential. I’ve mostly stopped playing outside of events, just waiting for it to turn around, if ever. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if it took 2-3 years for this game to be in a healthy state, it sure as hell won’t be any time soon.
I just hit level 100 in the battle pass. I am working on beating legendary or I’m plroba ly going to buy elden ring and just wait for couch coop to come out.
