Is Infection really that fun?

Maybe it’s simply because I’m not incredibly good at it, but I’ve never really enjoyed Infection much at all. I feel that nowadays there are only two kinds of people there: those that milk multikills (and possibly make montage videos out of it), and the cannon fodder who only help them do that. Being the former must be incredibly fun, racking up Killtacs, Killtastrophes, Killionaires, but being the latter is not fun at all, and it’s mainly why I rarely ever bother playing Infection.

For me, Infection is the most fun when either:

  • Racking up multi kills as the Last Man Standing - Using the zombie’s active camo to stalk survivors and pick them off one by one. :sunglasses:

Infection is fun if you’re good yes it just takes time and patience. those that rack up kills like that usually just exploit the mode or just get lucky most of the time

Outside of (Mythic) Shotty Snipers, Warzone Firefight, and the occasional Action Sack, Infection is my go-to gamemode when it comes to blowing off steam with friends after a long and stressful day. It’s exhilarating to go on a crazed multi-kill spree while tons of enemy players are swarming you all at once.

Under most circumstances, I always have the Shotgun and the Railgun as my loadout. May not be the most practical loadout - due to the low amount of ammo - but it’s absolutely devastating if you can use it properly during Last Man Standing. It doesn’t matter if I’m using the base Railgun or the Arclight.

Was fun when I tried it. That was when it first came out though so it might have changed.

I enjoy it

It’s okay. I don’t really find it fun when everyone flocks to the good spot and then camps for the entire game while I’m an infected though.

I also don’t really get why people give someone high multi-kills. A few nights ago I was near the last man standing, but I decided against charging him because he already had a killtac and was gonna wait. Instead, my teammates just kept rushing him and he ended up getting a killionaire. Sorry, but I’m not gonna volunteer to be in someone’s crappy Infection montage.

Personally, I don’t find it that fun. I actually find it boring, frustrating and just lame as heck to be honest lol I do enjoy playing a game or two with a bunch of friends once in a blue moon though. Give me Team Slayer, Team Objective or BTB any day of the week. I’m much more of a Halo purest I guess people would say. Firefight (ODST style) I also enjoy. Such good memories there.

Halo 5’s infection is actually my favorite iteration. With anything, it’s the most fun when you’re good. My one complaint is how your stats are tracked while playing it.

I don’t think it’s really that fun especially in Halo 5. I mean it’s good for getting multikills but that’s about it.

Because Halo 5’s Infection is a little different compared to other iterations, you have to play a little smarter when you’re the infected. Spatial awareness and listening to the surroundings is key to your success.

If I’m one of the starting infected, I like to quickly rush to a major traffic point and sit quietly for someone to come by, usually for the last guy in line. Usually after the first strike or two, I devolve into a crazed rush and try to eliminate as many people before they take me down.

I never liked it since Reach. I am not interested in running around trying to find the one guy who is camping. I know that’s not what happens every time, but it happens enough that it’s not fun to me.

Yes. Very fun IMO lol

I too, get a little stressed when it comes to looking for that one dude who keeps hiding in that one spot, especially when there’s two survivors left. It’s such an unrewarding pursuit when you’re looking through really obscure spots over and over again.

And I don’t play it enough to know those spots so it is even more unrewarding. I just don’t get how it’s fun to sit and wait for the throng to come and get you.

Oh well, I don’t like, I don’t have to play it, and I don’t. I can’t remember the last time I played an Infection match, and I’m okay with that.

Not when your hopeless

I don’t, it was a neat idea but its very boring to me overall.

The only thing that really bothers me with infection is the shotgun inconsistency. Sometimes I’ll nip someone in the foot from 50 feet away and get a kill, other times I’ll point blank somebody in the face and they don’t die. It’s actually kind of ridiculous. lol

Huh, I get this as well, and I thought I was just me since I’m not the best at CQB. It’s probably more of a connection issue rather than a shotgun issue, but hey, they might be updating it. It could be one of the 14!

I have never understood the craze for infection in all Halo games. Perhaps it’s just not for me. Incredibly boring (regardless of how well done it is) for me.

That’s the beauty about Halo games, there is something for everyone (:
