We Saw the new Sangheili ships on a scale today and the Brigatine is bigger than the Infinity. The Arbiter also has 3+ of these vessels possibly even more. We know so far all the humans have in that size is the Infinity and only 1 ship of the class. (Unless more Infinity class ships are being built) Are the Elites stronger than the humans ship combat wise?
You do realise that these ships have been rendered obsolete by the Covenant centuries ago (in-universe) right? These ships are being used out of necessity. And just because a ship is bigger doesn’t exactly equate to the ship being better.
And have you really forgotten the CSO Supercarrier? A ship almost 29km in length? A ship that makes the Infinity look like a puppy?
Wealso don’t really have any reasonable showing of this new ship to accurately judge it’s capabilities.
Did you really have to make both this and a versus thread? Why not just… incorporate both into one topic?
I would assume that there are more Infinity-class ships in development, or are planned to be in development. Whether or not they will is up to resources the UNSC currently has, funding, and the current political situation. However, there are still CSO-class Supercarriers out there, I know they were not all destroyed, but they are rare and we do not know who is fielding them. In terms of weaponry and defense, at this point, Humanity is pretty evenly matched with the Covenant, but if all the Brigantines in the Swords of Sanghelios fleet were to focus fire on the Infinity, it would stand a somewhat fair chance. Probably 6 out of 10 times in the SoS’s favor, maybe. But, in terms of numbers, the UNSC and the SoS and probably the other splinter factions combined approximately have the same amount of star ships, so I would think that Humanity is still just a tad bit short of being evenly matched, only because of the size of their ships not competing effectively with what the Covenant factions have, even if the weaponry and defensive capabilities is very close to par (titanium-A and A3 armor is still weaker than Nanolaminate plating). Fortunately, the most powerful faction, the Swords of Sanghelios, is allied with the UEG. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
p1ay4OURFUN
Given that their obsolete designs it would probably give the UNSC naval superiority in a fight. Size doesn’t mean everything.
There is also a reason why we probably don’t see the Brigantine SoS/covenant cruiser that often as it might be a similar to the infinity in shielding, but not as powerful when it comes to firepower/weapons.
The Swords of Sanghelios are allies to the UNSC, so I wouldn’t say that the UNSC is outmatched. That sort of implies conflict, and those two aren’t in conflict.
In terms of the Sangheili in general, there are some Sangheili factions and colonies that are probably substantially weaker so it’s not really a clear cut situation. The Sangheili aren’t a single force or nation anymore.
If you mean Jul’s Covenant, maybe, but humanity has allies in the SoS this time so I doubt it.

Completely true.
Where can we see the scale?
I don’t think its a full gone conclusion that these new ships are inferior to their Covenant era counterparts, but we really need further information on their armaments and defences. Yes bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better, but at the same time older doesn’t mean automatically inferior, especially where Forerunner tech is concerned.
One thing I’d point out is that while these ships were considered obsolete in their day, its likely the Sangheili factions using them have upgraded their weaponry, defences and propulsion systems with their latest advancements. Tech they didn’t have when they were originally in service.
The Halcyon-class light cruiser was considered by many in the UNSC to be an obsolete vessel until the UNSC refitted it with their most advanced reactor and MAC cannon, after which it became one of the most versatile ships in the fleet. The same could be true of any of these older ship classes.
Reading through the Cannon Fodder post again, only the Brigantine and Carrack class vessels are referenced as being considered obsolete by newer Covenant era warships. The Sangheili Man’O’War as a warship design is actually referenced as never being equalled by later Covenant warships which suggests it some ways, even after almost three and half millennia it is still superior in some respects to contemporary Covenant designs.
As I said, I’d like allot more information on the exact specification of these ships in terms of armament, defences etc however in relation to the OP’s original post, I’d say these vessels still outclass anything the UNSC has available.
If the Sangheili have transplanted their latest advances into these ships in terms of weaponry, defences and power supply, then its likely that the overall combat performance of these ships is somewhere between the UNSC and modern Covenant warships, with the older pure-Sangheili designs possibly providing superior performance in some ways.
Even before the writ of union, the Sangheili still had access to plasma and directed energy weapons which the UNSC is still yet to advance to. Considering these later vessels are now equipped with shields, then their weaponry would still put them ahead of the UNSC with their MAC cannons and missiles.

Only the Swords of Sanghelios have those as far as we know, so we don’t have to worry about it as the SoS are allies of the UNSC. Jul had them but his faction is destroyed.

Those ships are confirmed upgraded by Grim in the Halo Archive, so they are up to date now even though being ancient.

Actually one Brigatine can be seen outside of the Argent Moon as Blue Team abandons ship. Although it also appears to be destroyed as Argent Moon’s reactor blows so that takes care of that.

It was probably destroyed. Even if it wasn’t, they belonged to Jul, whose entire fleet was destroyed or teleported to Genesis during the Battle of Sunaion (those teleported then became ineffective - if some of them was teleported at all).
What does it matter… it took the tactical mind of a Spartan 3 (Kat), Paris class and a small strike team to destroy the CSO long night of solace. Unyielding Hierophant and its compliment of 500+ vessels was destroyed by a Spartan 2 fire team led by John.
Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you?
No, they do not. The Brigantine is considered obsolete and has been for centuries. It’s clearly not anywhere near as advanced as the top Covenant ships like the CAS-Class Assault Carrier or the CSO-Class Supercarrier.
The ship being big doesn’t mean anything.

But Grim confirmed back on the Halo Archive the older ships are upgraded by the new factions.

Every single of them has shielding as shown in the opening cutscene which was rare when the Covenant RCS entered service. The Sangheili have obviously upgraded those ships and I am glad Grim confirmed it back on the Archive. These are tier 2 ships. It’s pretty obvious that the UNSC’s tier 3 tech won’t be superior.

Actually the UNSCs new tech is at a tier 2 level since it’s made with upgraded forerunner and covenant tech. At the bare minimum their at tier 3+ for other tech.
