I’ve been playing MCC on Xbox and PC for many months now, and I recently booted up Halo 5. I practiced my aim in campaign and it felt fine. As soon as I joined a Quick Play lobby my crosshair felt suuuuuper sluggish and slow, like I was playing on a TV with something ridiculous (like 200ms response time) or something. Is heavy aim seriously still an issue with this game? It was one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing it.
Yes
Not saying it doesn’t exist, but i’ve literally never felt like the aiming system was working against me in Halo 5.
Somedays my aim was crap but it’s always been my issue or my controller’s issue. But then again I’m only low Diamond so what do I know.
Yes. I don’t know if is the server or distance from where we play… But there are days when is more frequent. I remember some two or three weeks after the pandemic started, it was terrible. The only good thing was that it made me clean my controller from inside. It was full of my cat’s hair or something.
It’s really noticable in infection with shotguns for me.
Yes, the aiming system is broken, I don’t think even 343 know how to fix it.
the aiming system is the reason ppl don’t take this game seriously. The difference between Champs and high Diamonds are that Champs don’t feel the aiming issues (everyone is different)
Its gives the feeling like Champs aren’t that much better… they just struggle less with the aiming.

I too have never felt the game working against me. My aim is usually pretty solid 50-60% depending on who I’m playing against. When I play poorly it usually boils down to bad decision making. I too am a low diamond player; currently D1 in Slayer.
Edit: I wonder if has anything to do with controller settings. I have my inner deadzone set to zero. Those who are having problems; what is your inner deadzone setting? If there is something wonky going on, that could explain it.
This is… really bad. I don’t think wonky aiming issues are acceptable in any FPS, considering it’s one of THE most important aspects of the genre, even more so for a game that tried to be a competitive e-sport. Infinite better not have these issues in 2021, with the new engine and all.

Difference between champs/high diamonds is a LOT more than just aiming lmao. Maybe the difference between some onyxes and diamonds can be attributed to aiming.

They’re not better. In fact ranks only matter to an extent. Most Onyxs and Champs don’t even play like Onyxs and Champs. A lot of them got their ranks from playing team, not ffa, against randoms since there’s no party matching. They also use smurf accounts to get free wins against bad players. Everybody experiences heavy aim in this game.
Man tbh…in the matches with heavy aim, I’ve experienced much more than just issues with reticle spikes in speeds. Ghost bullets doing 0 damage, headshots not counting sometimes, players doubling their actions (like a enemy coming out of a lift disappears only to reappear once again a second time coming out of the same lift…as if they just busted out the hologram ability in reach)…the game magically somehow throwing out 2 of my grenades at once when I go to throw 1 grenade. Etc all signs of lag, but usually in other games my reticle always remains true to my actions, but in h5 it just doesn’t seem so.
I think matchmaking at times where player population is low, and also the total amount of players even playing close to you affect these things. As far as how often this is experienced from player to player…it really varies. Some say they’ve never experienced it…however…people aren’t just making this up. I mean sure…
Everyone has an off day…but you can tell the difference between just having crappy aim yourself and the reticle detecting the input server side being delayed. It doesn’t move fast enough, so it causes a player to peg the stick sometimes, which in turn causes the acceleration to kick in by the time you feel the reticle moving as it should it ends up moving to fast at the wrong time.
So for me I’d say yea it definitely still is happening.

Actually, yes, Champions ARE better than Diamonds, you’re delusional if you think otherwise. Also, I experience super heavy aim at times Spades, so you’re wrong about that! But, yes, not ALL champions and Onyx players are great. But the few of us who are REAL Champions, like me, can beat ANY and EVERY Diamond player in this game, including low to mid Onyx players. We’re simply just better at shooting, movement, decision making, and everything that contributes to a good player.
Yes there is people who boost, but boosting doesn’t get you far, nor does playing with a team rank you up faster. Infact, I solo literally 90% of my ranked games, and I still hit high Champion. If anyone has to boost for Champion, they do not deserve it, and they will get banned.
Yes I never realized there was a term for this but it is very noticeable in halo 5. Another thing that I experience daily is the bad hit registration. I find myself getting so frustrated because i will five-shot someone, or encounter a one-shot enemy in a duel only to lose after hitting several body/head shots when I started with full shields and the enemy will start our duel with no shields. I have recorded countless clips just to make sure I am not trippen out and just missing my shots. And sure enough, I am not missing at all. The bullets just seem like they don’t register. Just hitting the enemy and nothing happening. VERY frustrating, and very amateur and unacceptable from 343. You know, despite halo 4, 5, and MCC, and ALLLLLL the obvious problems these games have had, I try and give 343 the benefit of the doubt, and not be too harsh on my criticism because I know they get a lot of flack, so I try and be understanding of all the variable factors that go into why problems/dilemmas occur and not just point the finger and blame them for everything. But when infinite comes out, they NEED to fix all of this. Otherwise I am done with halo

Ugh no I agree. It really is just connection and aiming based and they play a bit more. Most times we are talking about a 2 percent difference here.

Bro you are a SWAT player.
Like I said I’m only low Diamond in Arena. At that level everyone has good shot, it’s the decision making and Game IQ (prediction skills) that separates diamonds from Onyxes.

You’re not wrong about heavy aim. I’ll be in a game and get 20+ kills, and then join the next game and feel like my crosshair is moving at turtle speeds, getting a horrible KDA. So yes, this problem still exists, but I like the game so I keep playing it. XD

I shouldn’t have used the word most but you know exactly what I mean. Then again I shouldn’t be upset with the players when it’s the devs’ fault for bad game design. And I never denied heavy aim existed.

And Im an onyx arena player, with ffa champions, mythic ffa swat, slayer and head to head. Make sure you do some research before you call me anything thanks. Like if you can aim who cares about gameplay decisions it just comes naaturally. Slay pull obj, or if you are clear 2 go down pull obj oppsosite spawn without throwing for sneak cap. Territories is all about rotation and certain maps have bad spawns. And oddball slay grab ball throw over edge rinse repeat. If you have a scuf and can aim youll win most engagements by using cover or getting the jump 3 tap melees. Me being wired on fibe is night and day vs wireless literally Ill never lose firefights. If Im on wireless or further away wired I play terrible and nothing connects. But unless you’re on your own server this game is trash vs any other Halo. And I was a top Reach online player as well as Halo 3 50.
Thought heavy aim was something which got sorted out in the early days of H5 and your post is one of very few recent ones I came across.
I encountered heavy aim today for perhaps only the second or third time ever and for the first time in at least a year or two. Man, it threw off the entire match for me. It was FF, but I ended up missing like >50% of kill shots while using a loadout weapon. It was more bearable once I got into a vehicle, of course.
Perhaps the Xbox team is making changes to Live in preparation for Series X. Idk, just throwing out ideas.
EDIT: Wow, another game of FF and one of Arena. Left both within a minute because of how bad the aiming felt. I hope this is an temporary issue otherwise it’s going to be hard to keep coming back to this game.
