with the game development further behind than anyone expected and the cancellation of splitscreen co op, There’s more stuff that can end up getting cancelled. They’re supposed to be coughing up over $1 Million dollars to attract players to the World Championship. This is in October before the game sees any real fixes or additions. On the plus side, the tournaments have been run better and there’s quality improvements happening here mostly thanks to the TO.
Then you factor in the rumors of boycotting. If the competitive side does this, that’ll be the end of HCS and they’ll go back to grassroots only. There’s just no win to be had here for anyone.
Pro scene isn’t that popular really to begin with. They denied some good teams being added to hcs. Half of all viewers literally are just there for twitch drops. We can argue infinite is in terrible state, well don’t need to argue it, but compared to other competitive games, infinite is bottom of the barrel. Even if they fixed the game I’m not sure this game ever gets the viewers, I really don’t think the average gamer likes arena fps anymore.
