Is Halo Wars worth jumping into?

Hey everyone, I was curious if anyone had strong opinions on whether or not Halo Wars is a good game to jump into.
I’ve never really played any RTS games although I enjoy strategy. My main interest in the game comes from it being a part of Halo.
Is it noob friendly or would I have a bad time up against AI or competitive?

Its definitely casual and competitive. It’s easy to get into. The AI in this game is horrible but is atm a great way learn the basics and to find a comfort zone for a leader to learn what does what and than to expand out to others.

Which game are you referring to? The first game, Halo Wars, has a great campaign and is on Steam with a couple hundred players still playing. Halo Wars 2 has an okay campaign but the improvements from the first game and the dlc (flood horde mode and the expansion) I hear are pretty good and is currently cross platform compatible with Windows. I would say this game and it’s predecessor are good games for being introduced to the RTS genera as it is a slower paced game then more typical RTS and more simplified in unit control and mechanics.

I think its still a great game to get into. I would recommend practicing against AI at first. When you can comfortably beat them on legendary then try out online matchmaking. I would also suggest you to learn at least one UNSC and one Banished leader. I spent way to much time only playing UNSC and didn’t take the time to learn a banished leader. I struggled playing against banished and didn’t fully understand what units countered what. After taking time to learn a banished leader I was a much better player.

The first Halo Wars was my very first RTS and I still play it every now and then. Easy to understand and can get very competitive if you choose to go down that route.
