Why 343 moved away from the Reach framework for armour and continual progression in all game modes is beyond me; it’s probablt the biggest reason Reach is still my favourite Halo game to date and why I’ll only play the 343 entries in passing.
Not only was Reach’s customization better, the actual armor felt better and more like it belonged in the UNSC.
Collectible armor in reach made it feel like you were building a spartan with these armor pieces and attachments.
Being able to buy what you wanted so long as you met the requirements also was much preferred over the way it is in Halo 5.
Now it feels more like you are selecting an “arch type” with the limited customization. Also the new armor looks too much like a power ranger.
It’s hard to imagine a world where Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, Spartan 2s and the marines exist in the same world as Spartan 4s with these new goofy armor types.
Reach took what halo 3 introduced and made it the best in the series.
I also miss the opportunity to play as an elite/seeing other players play as an elite.
Yes, although I think Halo 4’s customisation is the second best of the series. Halo 5’s customisation is killed by the REQ System and laziness on 343’s part.

Lets see, the armor was amazing and unique looking. Armor looks real and not plastic. Each helmet had a cool varient with it. You could change your arms sepratley, knees, wrist, chest, firefight voice, about all of a Spartans armor. The colors arent crap like 5 or 4.
Absolutely. More options, more realistic looking, and not acheived by praying to RNG Jesus.

Better than Halo 4? Debatable. Better than Halo 5? Yes.
Is Reach better than Halo 5 overall? Well that’s a whole other can of worms, isn’t it?
Definitely. Reach’s armor customization is leagues better than Halo 4’s and 5’s.
Absolutely. The gritty militarized style of Reach’s armor trumps the bizarre alien-looking Power Rangers-ish design of Halo 5’s gear by a long shot. There are also more options, the textures and colors make the armor look more realistic, and the armor is unlocked through progression rather than RNG, so you have a very clear path to the gear that you want.
Speaking of Halo Reach, why does it show default armor for Halo Reach on my waypoint profile?
For sure. There are some armor type I like better in halo 4-5, but overall the customization is better in Halo Reach.
I like the mix and match aspect of reach better but 343 did put out alot of stuff for halo 5.
I find that Reach armors all look really similar because there were only like 10 helmets or something. There are (lots) more in Halo 5.
I find that all of the armors in Halo 5 (save a few) look completely identical. The ones in Reach seemed to be a bit more diverse.

Halo reach is better, Big time. Halo 4 and 5s system was OK, but it wasn’t the greatess
no competition there. Reach customization wipes the floor with any other newer installments customization options. The few reasons i list here are for example the artstyle looks much better, it has more customization options, every armor-set looks their own instead of being a plastic armor with ugly reskins and it has elites available too (though they didnt have customization points like in Halo 3, and thats the only bad thing i can think of Reach’s armory.). To name a few of the many reasons.
Reach had the best customization of not just halo, but any game in my opinion. Being able to change each little piece of your armor was amazing. On top of that, Reach had the best armor of all the halo games. It truly felt like halo. I personally think that the newer halos by 343i (especially H4) don’t feel like halo used to. Reach was the last halo that I felt like I was playing a classic.
I don’t know let’s think about this reach had 9 options for your spartan 4 had 7 and 5…uh…3.so if my math is correct reach is superior in options for customization
