Is Halo Reach new player friendly?

Now I have played Halo Reach on the 360 and when I got my Xbox one I went and played halo reach on that, but I wasn’t on my old account so I was a little upset because I had to start from scratch again. So I started out playing some campaign figuring that was a good way to start out getting more credits and ranking up a bit. So then after getting through a few missions I decided to go play some matchmaking and the first thing I realized was that no matter whenever I played ranked and/or skill level based matches I got higher ranked players in my matches that were like inhereritor when I was barely warrant officer. I don’t know if this is the game complimenting my skills or it just being non-new player friendly. Idk you tell me what you think

It doesn’t matter what your opponents rank is. Halo reach is kinda cod like rank wise. Just because they are a high rank doesn’t mean they are good it means they have played a lot of games. To truly tell if they are good you can check their arena rank.

Exactly this. Experience == skill, though often is a decent indicator. You’re likely playing highly leveled people (again, not necessarily skilled), because the age of the game is so old that only die-hards continue to play. With all those years to rank up their level, they’re going to be inheritors and what not.

Exactly. Rank is based on the amount of time you invest in the game. SWAT usually has alot of try hards but other than that, any playlist should be a great fit for anyone looking to play

Because Reach has been out since 2010 and many Halo games have released since then, mostly die hard fans still play the game. As a result, most players are likely going to be high ranks and have a lot of experience.

As others have correctly stated, however, rank/experience does not equal skill. High rank does not necessarily mean high skill. But in my personal experiences, I find that higher ranked players tend to play better than lower ranked players because they know more about map control, power weapon placement, and the sandbox in general. But don’t be discouraged if you play against higher ranked players. A lot of them are much worse than you think. Be confident! You will get better the more you play. There are definitely lower ranked players like you as well.

If you are curious about someone’s skill, check out their service record and commendations. A high KD (maybe like 1.5 or higher or a very high spread) and high commendation percentage means they are probably pretty good.

My advice for you is to try to play with a friend. That will help you tremendously and will be more fun. Try sticking to Team Slayer, BTB, Infection, and Firefight. I find SWAT, Snipers, and free-for-all to be pretty tough. Grifball is full of boosters, so stay far away from it.

Also be advised against smurf accounts–people that have a new account but have played the game before–these people will be low ranked and will do extremely well.

Good luck and have fun!

As long as you don’t play Grifball in Reach, you’ll have a great time.

If you’re new to playing Halo Reach, there will be a slight learning curve when you get online, but you will get used to it
