Is Halo:Reach invasion gamemode cannon?

I know the elites don’t have the appropriate colors, but maybe its a simulation?

I could be wrong but I don’t think Invasion is canon. As far as I know, until Halo 4, multiplayer was just multiplayer. It wasn’t canon.
