Is Halo Infinite's Campaign meant to be "Live Service?"

Can anyone confirm if anywhere in the marketing it was ever confirmed that the Campaign of Infinite was supposed to be live service?

Furthermore, does anyone know if there are any legal definitions around live service?

And what do y’all consider to be “live-service?” What would you expect from a live service halo campaign?

hm… we bought campaign on discs. they should allow it for us to play campaign from the disc… instead of a server…

i have not good thoughts about the word Live Service, if anyone know what i mean, looking at great games at internet in the last decade which perished…

Live service games are designed to keep players playing as long as possible, with content being added overtime to keep the game fresh.

Problem with that is, the game is supposed to be good at launch with the promise of it getting better as time goes on. As you can see, that tends not to happen as often as it should.

I couldn’t find anything directly saying that they intended the campaign to be live service (though maybe some live interview did that I didn’t find). Clearly though, I believe people expected campaign to hit some form of cadence with additional content releases (albeit smaller than a full game).

That’s a fair point!

My complaints about the campaign are much less so that it hasn’t been updated, and much moreso that it arrived incomplete, unpolished, and with an open world that just feels… one-dimensional. I suppose being live service isn’t intended to address that problem, it is intended to provide more of something good, not polish a turd so to speak.

@N0_REM0RS3 - I haven’t found anything either, just a vague memory of hearing it (and personally, I had expected the campaign to be live service.)

I feel like it was something Joe Staten said?

Live service could also mean as long there is interest in the game, the servers will be up.
So 343 can shut down or put up more servers as the community grows or shrinks.

Isnt the multiplayer live service?
There is a story that comes with the BP each season. And the fractures events have its own other dimension non canon world.
I think that is the live service.

It occurs to me… does this mean that once they drop support for servers, the campaign will disappear?

But the campaign is the part you pay for, so why isn’t that part live service? Woudn’t that make more sense?

Campaign players were really really screwed over with this release.

And that goes into the issue with live service games today.

Rather them being good from the get go and getting better as time goes on, they tend to be unfinished and time has to be spent on them being fixed.

I don’t think live service is any legal concept. Just a fancy stamp to disguise the “players last mentality” of the modern industry.

As far as i know live service goes with multiplayer games thats why i donk think that the campaing is concerned. Unless they make the campaing a PVE multiplayer thing.

I do agree the industry has become a launch first patch later affair :face_exhaling:

i wondered this too, but indeed we payed for campaign it should always be available for disc owners

i fully agree with spam and 1000% with McFit , he explains every detail of this corrupt modernized brainwashed illegal industry , what is happening, how many fools there exist and who they are and what everyone should be able to do, this society is getting more crazier by the day and what is happening, how far the mentality is sinking and i recommend everyone to read the post 2 above me

At some point they will but looking at the snail’s pace that this game is getting fixed I would not expect it any time soon.

Very very valid.

The other day I posted on a forum with people boasting about how they had spent more on Infinite than any other F2P. It was very controversial just for me to point out that buying cosmetics doesn’t support the game, it supports the store. They don’t turn around and re-invest that in new content, they re-invest it in more mtx.

Amazingly, some of them actually think that by buying cosmetics they are “supporting the game” more than us.

Buying e-sports cosmetics helps fund the e-sport scene.

Lol yes, but that is not “supporting the game.”

Buying those cosmetics doesn’t make us more likely to get more content, it isn’t something they reinvest into graphics, etc.

It’s money they will re-invest into marketing and more e-sports cosmetics. Don’t kid yourself.

Im pretty sure the campaign can be played offline. Its everything else which is online only, including custom games which is irritating.
