Hopefully Halo Infinite is the game 343 wanted to make. There has been a lot of course correction over the ten years they’ve had the franchise.

Honestly I don’t think they even wanted to make Halo, they seem to completely throw out anything that even resembles what the games used to be so they can chase trends and other playerbases. Any game franchise requires talented developers who have passion and actually know what they are doing and frankly, 343i has never shown the love or competence to make Halo ( or at least make Halo what it once was )
They were originally making a whole different Halo game, (I don’t know the source of this it’s just what people pass foreward) But then they scrapped that project (pretty much) because of the negative criticism after Halo 5.
But I’m sure they don’t all have the exact same wishes for Halo within 343, just like the rest of the community doesn’t. Maybe Infinite wasn’t the original plan but maybe they prefer it over the other plan by now anyway.
Would be super interesting to hear what 343 employees disagree upon regarding Halo

It was bungie who didnt want to make halo. They threw everything out with reach and left 343 to follow up a game that was vastly different. It didnt help that the community loved reach. Had reach never happened 343 could of followed up halo 3 instead. Which is were the bulk of the community who wants things to de-evolve clearly wants things to start. You cannot deny that the path where we are now didnt start with reach. There fore bungie as well.
They already got the train rolling with halo 4. It’s hard to refocus a story and keep it coherent if your gonna throw it all out on the last game of a trilogy. But It appears the promethean are taking a back seat this time for the brutes. I bet that’s 343s way of putting on the brakes, while trying to tie up a question left over from halo 3. Maybe the next trilogy will be more of what some of you (not all of us because I like the way the mechanics have evolved) want in terms of getting a game that plays more like a decade + aged game.

Halo 2 and 3 were already pretty big derivations from CE. Honestly, Reach feels more like a sequal to CE than 2 and 3 did. 2 and 3 also were trying really hard to end the covenant as fast as possible so the story could be over.

I’d argue that halo 5 already threw out most of what happened in halo 4. It just tried to salvage things.
First 343 wanted to make a trilogy, then they decided it’s gonna be a saga and now it is a soft reboot with a 10 year support.

The only thing that made reach like CE was the arcane health system. Reach started the whole movement mechanics
Say what you will about 5. For the last couple of months its steady been in the xbox live most played games top 50. MCC isnt even in the top 50 according to xbox.com

I just checked and Halo 5 isn’t even on the first page, keep in mind just because a game is popular doesn’t mean it’s good. Halo 5 is not a good Halo game ( decent shooter ) and it has suffered for this
The self-promotion is strong with this one.

It’s been in the top 50 since april. And yes I’m sure a lot has to do with the announcement of an unlock if you hit level 152. If you want you can YouTube a video about halo 5s resurgence. It chronicles the various sites reporting an uptick in players over the summer.
As far as it not being a good game is subjective. I’ve been playing bungie games before halo was even a thing. And I’m all for playing something new and refreshed. Your entitled to your opinion. But I think the new mechanics are grea . The evade solved the duel wield delema. Meaning you can close the distance with the press of a button. And you dont even have to juggle pressing Y Or X to do it while dropping and picking up weapons. Getting g killed in the process.
Infinites gameplay vid clearly showed they were taking it a step further. Not only can you now rapidly accelerate speed on the horizontal plane. It clearly showed the chief doing it on the vertical. Finally doing away with that ancient jump speed.

Blah blah blah. 343 listens to money. You know how many marathon fans were crying when bungie announce thier next game was called halo. You know how many call of duty fans are still crying because modern warfare switched everything up to a customizable experience. Nobody makes the same game twice. Halo 5 has been ranked in the top 50 of most played games all summer long per ms xbox website. Mcc didnt even place in the top 50. And you think 343 is gonna spend the highest budget ever allocated to a first party game on more of that.

Your entitled to your opinion. But I think the new mechanics are grea . The evade solved the duel wield delema. Meaning you can close the distance with the press of a button. And you dont even have to juggle pressing Y Or X to do it while dropping and picking up weapons. Getting g killed in the process.

They would make more money if they made a good Halo game

Any game franchise requires talented developers who have passion and actually know what they are doing and frankly, 343i has never shown the love or competence to make Halo ( or at least make Halo what it once was )

343 was literally an offshoot of Bungie if I recall…

No, they had 90% brand new staff who hadn’t worked on any games before, especially Halo.
And even if 343i was comprised of old Bungie staff then I must say I’m disappointed and wish them to actually figure out what makes a good Halo.

Your opinion of a “good” Halo means nothing to anyone.
Some people like what 343 has added (not all of it, granted).
Personally I hate multiplayer but Im not the arbiter (judge) of what makes good gameplay, and neither are you.
