As in good campaign, disappointing multiplayer?
Haven’t played the entire story yet but it seems like it’s shaping up to be like this.

Nah, imo, no. Halo 4’s multiplayer was doomed mainly because of it going away from the golden triangle and implemented loadouts. Infinite’s problem isn’t really gameplay, which sure, it could use some tweaks but it’s pretty good and fun.
I think the consensus is that the core multiplayer gameplay in infinite is solid (and from what I’m hearing about campaign, it’s solid too). Halo 4 population tanked because halo 4 departed from the halo gameplay formula quite a bit and the multiplayer was… Bad.
If halo infinite dies quickly it looks like it will be noon gameplay related issues (playlists, lack of content, progression, etc) not being resolved in time.
Its like a more modern halo 3 but with A LOT of missing features.
Still really fun though.
I’m feeling the opposite, for now: good Multiplayer; disappointing Campaign.
I’ve only completed up to Mission 3, but have done all of the optional activities and gotten the collectibles on the first “island”, and I can’t say that I’m loving the Campaign. The whole thing feels disjointed. The story is confusing, even with the audio logs I’ve been picking up, and they then raise more questions. The activities are mundane and repetitive. Exploring itself feels like Just Cause or Far Cry, and the main missions themselves haven’t been that interesting. I can’t see myself wanting to replay them as I would the first three levels of most other Halo game (Osiris isn’t that fun). I haven’t had the moment comparable to stepping out of the lifeboat in Halo, even though the game clearly wants me to have had. All I feel at the moment is: “Is this it?”.
Hopefully, this opinion will change as I progress through more of the Missions and the story.
Considering I was disappointed with Halo 4’s campaign and multiplayer and so far I’m disappointed with both in Infinite then yes it is turning out to be another Halo 4.
i love it, its very much like a mix of different halos. some hace CE in there with the open world, some h3 in there with the chatter of marines, and enemy. and some h4-5 in there with combat.
overall it feels like a proper halo 2 me.
Funny that you say that, because you really can’t unless you start a new game from scratch lol.
That too. Although, I don’t think you have to get the collectibles again, which would certainly save some tedium.
To me, the best part about Halo 4’s campaign was the Spartan Ops, and Cortana’s H4 personality. I actually really like the multiplayer though, because it felt like cracked out Reach, and the Infection and Forge was pretty cool. Also liked Ricochet Grifball, and I hope Infinite has Flood Infection, Ricochet, and Grifball soon. I’d also like an open world 4 player Spartan Ops campaign expansion once the main campaign is done and has co-op.
Halo 4’s multiplayer, basic multiplayer, meaning modes with game type set loadouts and no ordinance were actually good. Honestly Halo 4 isn’t anywhere near as bad as the community tries to make it out to be,
Dude Halo 4’s MP was legit fun, it’s just the Halo purists that can’t handle the fact Halo 4 was genuinely good. H3 had flaws too, as did H2, CE, ODST, and Reach. Every Bungie game had issues, but we overlook those because it’s Bungie, whereas we amplify 343’s mistakes rather than saying “Yeah they messed up a couple of things here and there but the game is still overall fun.”
If a game is fun, then it’s a good game.
Halo infinite is shaping up to be like every other Halo 343 releases. High initial player count dwindling down to barely played.
Took them years to get MCC in a respectable state and it’s average concurrent player base yesterday was around 6000. A pittance.
Going to take them years to get the game where it should have been at launch, nobody to really enjoy it because 343 loves ruining peoples good faith.
HOWEVER, campaign seems fine albeit a little smaller scaled than I would have liked.
Nah dude, Infinite MP is great gameplay wise.
The Campaign is shaping up to be a good platform for updating, so I’m hyped for how it will update over the years.
Halo 4s campaign wasn’t very good aside from the occasional moment and the ending. But halo 4s whole story because irrelevant because of spartan ops and halo 5 basically undoing the big moments(cortana wasn’t killed, didact was killed off screen). Actmans video really explains it well.
Overall it’s generally okay at best. The campaign gameplay is kinda boring thus far to be honest, heroic is equivalent to easy/normal from the bungie era and legendary I’m hearing isn’t a big step from heroic. Combat encounters rarely punish you, the first boss isn’t a crazy threat. The opening for halo infinite is super jarring, like there should’ve been a level before it to set it up. Performance on the ring itself in the open world section is awful. High settings I was getting 30fps with a Vega 64 and ryzen 7 2700. I had no trouble on high in the first two missions, but I had to drop to the lowest possible settings to get 50 fps. Basically the campaign needs a ton of attention optimization wise cause I should be getting vastly better performance on high according to the specs requirement 343 put out.
Texture pop in is frequent, I looked at some of the brutes and there were some messed up polygons in the models as well.
Multiplayer is a ton of fun. I play it every chance I get.
Apparently an unpopular opinion but I think Halo 4 had one of the best multiplayers in the franchise.
Imo it was the other way around. Campaign was meh, while multiplayer beat out it’s predecessors.
H4’s campaign might actually be better, though I’m only on the fourth mission… i’ve done about 99% of the side quests so far and they add next to nothing to the story they’re just padding.
I wouldn’t compare infinite’s multiplayer to call of halo. Just the systems around the multiplayer suck right now.
