Is Halo Infinite monetization Non-Negotiable?

Why are we boycotting 343i. Think about that for a minute.

Paid progression is not enjoyable, but a good way to make money off gamers. That money is circulated back into the game to create updates and DLCs. They need the money to update Infinite’s graphics for the next 10 years.

2nd: Remember Halo 5’s level of customization? and the Halo Reach update it got for skins? IT WAS HORRIDLY INNACURATE. now look at Infinite’s level of customization and armor accuracy. I would pay for it.

The armor coloration thing sucks. Thats a given. I really hope 343i lets us customize the pallets we equip.

If the game was released by a small indie company, I would agree with this. But it isn’t. The parent company is one of the largest corporations in the world. If Microsoft has the money to buy ZeniMax Media and all of their owned properties, they have more than enough to keep a video game alive for 10 years.

Funny thing is no one asked for a free game they just did this out of greedy nothing else. I rather pay 60-70$ for a game with campaign+multiplayers than this were they charge for stuff we used to have included in the game since Halo 3.

At this point I just wish Microsoft gets rid of this company and get someone who are willing to listen to fan base and create an Halo without this shady mtx.

Personally I think some of these are over priced, 2000 credits for a set when it should be 1500 tops, the halo championship should be 500 credits not 1000, especially for how limited they are

But what 343 should do is add a secondary weekly challenges but it gives credits instead of xp, giving a total of 500 credits for completion weekly

But if they do this they need to remove the battle pass /premium and move it to the Microsoft marketplace as a stand alone purchase so free to play players can’t just save and buy the battle pass, the battle pass is meant to be bought

But this system if 343 does put into play would fix a lot of issues players are having, especially free to play players

I’d rather have this than the rng system halo 5 had, all 343 needs is a way to gain credits like I just posted above

343i is essentially the creation of Microsoft. The studio was formed to fill the void that Bungie left.

I don’t think 343 thought it was a great idea to monetize everything.

The gameplay itself is amazing, they just need to fix the BP and progression, cut us fans some slack.

Problem is we’re still expected to pay the same full price for campaign despite it not including multiplayer which was traditionally the other half of the game. They also are now selling battle passes, while also selling 20$ armor and 10$ colors, colors that used to be free and customizable.

This is beyond triple dipping. It’ll either get adjusted, or the population will drop off once the hype dies down. Right now MS is probably watching the situation and hoping the dissenters quiet down, so they can keep things as they are.

They had all the work done for them when accepting bungies game. All you had to do was implement what was already working and introduce minor changes at a time.

Problem here is they try to reinvent the wheel every time they release a new game, Halo 4 and Halo 5 was just really bad because because they try to get away from what the game was like and make it their own.

This game gameplay wise is more lookalike with the Halo 3 era than 4/5 ever was that’s why it’s getting praise from many but the other s*** they implement, again to leave the 343 mark is going to ruin the game and population will eventually start dropping as soon as the hype is over.

Look at what happened to Battlefront 2 with the monetization they try to force upon the players. The backlash was absurd and even though the game became good because they overhaul the entire mtx system no one is left to play it no one is even talking about the game anymore. Even EA admitted to pull the plug because it’s easier than admit defeat. I see this going the same path in a few months, I am afraid when forge releases not many will even care about this game anymore.

But yet again this was expected, first it’s 343 where quality’s is not their strong suit and second with all the people leaving during development.

You say this as if Bungie didn’t alter the game drastically between each release as well, or that 343i didn’t also undertake the transitions to the next console generations.

Halo 4 bested Reach’s sales on the first day, and that only went up with Halo 5 doubling the figure. Say what you will about the titles, the population is only going up and with the multiplayer being freely available it’s doubtful that anything will happen to it.

Battlefront 2 is an entirely different beast because Infinite has no ability to purchase any advantage for the player.

343i has made quality Halo games, so I guess we’re just looking at different franchises.

Microsoft is the only one benefitting from MTX. Microsoft is the one who is forcing 343’s hand into aggressively monitizing it. Its clear in the tone of 343i posts and tweets that they didnt want to design the game this way. At least the gameplay and story is intact! If Microsoft were to hand Halo off to another company that had a better progression system and a better monetization system, But didnt give a -Yoink!- as to the story, you would be okay with that?

343i already borked up the story at this point

I’m fairly positive that the main reason is that customisation is a huge part of Halo and always has been. When Bungie created Halo, they added in new ways to make your player your own with each new game.

Then 343 came along and suddenly that stops and everything becomes a challenge or a product to buy. It gets worse and worse where now in Halo Infinite, I can’t have a white or black Spartan unless I pay $10 for it.

Not only that, it doesn’t work with all armour cores. People have a right to be angry. I don’t think micro transactions are a deal breaker. But when you go so far that you start to force people to pay to use a colour, one they’ve used for 20 years, you’re stupid if you think people will be okay with it.

So thats it then. Halo Infinite is a bust and we should all boycott 343. yoink it at this point. Why should they even try? Anything they do is just going to be shut down immediately. It is 6 days before launch and 343 has already ruined Halo without us even playing the campaign. God i yoinking hate this forum.

Now yer gettin it.

I was talking about 4 and 5 and their mind numbingly stupid stories.

Microsoft is a publicly trade company. The only place that money goes is bonuses for execs and dividends to shareholders.

I’m sorry, but this is as rose tinted as they come. Customization was limited to colors in the first two games, and the only reason those were even there was to add a way to differentiate people in free for all matches. Team based modes overwrote those choices.

Halo 3 is what started the armor customization, and that was primarily through achievements so also gated behind challenges. Some pieces were not available to regular players or required DLC to unlock, so there is the paid content.

Halo Reach took it a step further and made customization a chore that you had to grind for. Once the commendations dried up, that was that and it would take months of playing to be able to afford a single armor piece. That is, of course, unless you purchased the map packs to unlock a new stream of credits.

While we’re on the topic, all of the customization is cosmetic. Map packs actually affect who you could play with. Which one really splits the playerbase by function of their wallet?

:joy::joy::joy::joy:

I was not talking about sales I was talking about buying the game and stick to playing it. Tell me how’s the population of Halo 4/5?… campaign wise those games were bad…

Multiplayer go see the numbers, most of the players are on MCC PC and Xbox Live, go check with games they are playing over there…

Original servers for Halo 4 are down, as with all the older games, and MCC lacks the online modes that made 4’s multiplayer attractive. I for one loved the campaign and it is my favorite of the main series titles.

5 butchered the narrative expected from Spartan Ops, Nightfall, 4’s conclusion, etc, and offered up a horrible campaign to boot.

As of right now, I’m seeing Halo 5 with 8500 players and Halo MCC with 7500. One game still having more players than a whole five others.

You may be partly right there, but I think the problem is 343i and Bonnie Ross because if Microsoft is forcing them to mtx this game hard why’s isn’t they doing the same with Forza? Forza and Respawn just released a “normal” game by today’s standards, $60 price with dlc.

What story? Halo 4 story was meh and 5 was the worst I’ve ever seen. Gameplay only now is getting better but before this gameplay was this call of duty mix crap.

343 since Halo 4 has always gone after trends, I’m surprised this is a BR game but still they had to put the open world in it…

I am not staying the game is already doomed but speaking for me I will not wait years once again for them to get the game were it should have since the beginning. Unfortunately I can see the population starting to diminish once the hype is gone.
