Is Halo Infinite like 2-Reach?

Is Halo infinite like Halo 2- Reach? Be mindful that I love all the games but halo 4 and 5 was missing it’s old touch. I think they should keep some aspects from the two games but go back to it roots.

It’s kinda like Halo 3, but also incorporates elements from Halo 5. Hard to explain but is very fun to play.

It feels a lot like Halo 3, 4 and 5, but I’d say it’s closest to H3.

In broad terms, it most reminds me of Reach I think.

Movement reminds me most of 4, with sprint now being (dare I say it?), perfectly balanced and realised, plus a few nice touches which don’t detract, but instead elevate, ensuring that it feels Halo, but modern, yet not so far as Halo 5.

What they’ve done with the abilities: making them all (Overshield and Camo as well) pickups with limited use, really fits well and again, balances their use brilliantly: nothing feels overpowered or unfair.

Honestly, to me, it feels like a proper inheritor of Halo’s mantle, a real successor to all the Halo games, that, so far, successfully blends the best of all them. I was genuinely surprised at how balanced the flight seemed: I’ve been there for the actual launch of many games that weren’t that well figured out…

If you think the game should look childish, I’m against it. Halo is a sci-fi action game, not Halo 4 or Halo 5. It’s just Halo.

I can’t take you guys anymore. This technology was invented and just keeps getting better. The same goes for Halo. Halo 5 has been out since 2015. It’s been 6 years. And new is new, get used to it. Halo is just Halo. Don’t buy the same T-Shirts.

I read a well-written article on this very thing, if you’re interested:

Definitely “gets” our community of hot takes and breaks down the details experienced in the last flight.

Hard to say where I’ll land on the spectrum; I enjoy being able to ADS, but find myself never even doing it in modes like SWAT. I also enjoy having maneuverability to hard someone off or escape around a corner with sprint, and playing a Halo 2 map feels repressed sometimes. Halo 5 has been my go-to for many years now, so I’m excited for what has been said about Infinite’s “feel”

I’ve been playing Halo for 20 years. There was a time when I thought the floaty, slidey, slow, restrictive movement of previous games was absolutely brilliant.

But like others have said; time moves on. I can’t go back. I can’t. Halo 3 multiplayer is painful to me these days. It’s like I’m fighting the controller.

I get Halo 5 being a bit bananas for some people, but life is change, you adapt or you end up a fossil. For my money, Infinite is spot on…

It’s most like Halo 3. I see people compare it to Halo 5 but I don’t see the similarities. Having played literal days world of Halo 5 on my xbox one, I feel that I can say that it is pretty handedly nothing like Infinite.

You can say sprint, clamper, “ads” and slide are all the relevant parts from Halo 5 and I’d agree. They are similarities, but that doesn’t mean they really play the same with those things. The sprint is significantly slower, slide is functionally the same (but slower), clamper also doesn’t seem to behave the same (it’s actually a bit more snappy, in that you get into the action faster in terms of gun fighting). You can go super fast if you know how to exploit the sprint slide mechanics but by default the mobility is “inferior” to Halo 5. The ADS is very different, despite sharing a “visual” relationship, it offers no buffs to weapons and acts as a simple zoom (which I like better). The aim assist also is clearly not the same (but I would say it’s comparable to playing Halo 2 campaign with the aim-assist off skull on).

It is most like Halo 3 in that game pace is fairly slow with the caveat of seemingly faster walking speed (which I think is one of my biggest issues with Halo 3 being too slow at times). The aim assist is not similiar for most weapons (the sniper is comparable). The BR seems to be a direct copy of the Halo 3 BR in terms of fire-rate and ttk, but the BR in Infinite is definitely more accurate minus the aim-assist.

Halo Infinite definitely feels like a Halo 3 sequel more than 4 ever did (despite me liking 4 and 5). Overall I think it’s a good game feel wise. I have my own gripes but I am confident some will either be fixed, allowed to be adjusted or will simply be a thing I will get use to. Having played all the Halo FPS games on console I think I really might like this the most. I play Halo 3 the most now because I have MCC on PC, if Halo 5 was on PC (with full matchmaking), I’d play it more than I do Halo 3, I simply cannot go onto my console and play reasonably well after being on M/K for literally years now.

Not gonna lie, glad the moon-jump was toned down in this game. I hated that your jump can literally ruin your day just because you bounce off of something while jumping. Feels more controllable which is good for this series.

Feels kinda like 3, but movement is more like an offshoot of 5.

The graphics need to be less colorful. They need to make the spartans look metallic and battle worn, rather than plastic. This is supposed to be a worn torn galaxy, with many atrocities and perils. Yet we get go happy colors and dialogue?

They need to man up the voice acting for the spartans (I can understand the AI though). It just beats me why spartans sound like teenagers (spartan 2s in lore didn’t sound like they barely hit puberty when they were finished with their augmentations).

The movements definitely feel different from Halo 5 which I like. Probably movement wise very similar to Halo 3.

Halo 3 was pretty vibrant, especially the Spartan armors? Was almost blindingly so at times. Also remember these aren’t II’s anymore - comparing them to the II’s isn’t exactly fair. Though Fred is a pretty big joker, unless you’re just talking voices… Still don’t ‘see’ anything wrong there either though.

Same, It feels a lot more like the old games but without feeling ‘sluggish’ either. I like it.

Feels like a Halo 3 but doesn’t exactly play like it. Hoping to get invited to the next flight :pray:t3:.

It has good elements from 3, and 4 and 5. Customization is reminiscent of Reach minus the coatings.

the movements in my opinion are very similar to halo reach and halo 4

As someone who stopped playing a lot after reach, I can’t compare it to 4-5 but it did give some Halo 3 vibes a bit. The guns have slightly different feels but not bad one because the AR felt amazing in the flight. I just hated the new button layout because it’s nothing like 2- reach, but you can change those settings yourself. The equipment doesn’t feel like the old games but it’s a really nice change, receptor for the drop shield it deploys wayyy too slow.

We’ll have to wait till launch, but I doubt it will be a “Reach 2” for a few reasons.

The main reason is hopefully 343i doesn’t just go insane with equipment like adding spartan charge and ground pound, we saw thrusters which should never return if you ask me. Too much get out of jail free to it. But we wont have Armor abilities and loadouts, unless 343i somehow adds invasion and firefight (figures crossed on that.)

Another is I highly doubt Halo infinite will launch with the same amount of features and game modes that Reach or 3 launched with. In fact 3 are already confirmed to not be there at launch. Assassinations, Duel Wielding, and Playable Elites.

Outside of that 343i focus is highly dedicated towards the Battle Pass and Bots/ Academy, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the game launched bare bones, maybe slightly more content than H5

For all we know this could very well launch like H5 especially since Halo Infinite is a “10” year life cycle type game. (How many of those have succeeded lol) so its a big no if you ask me. The bigger question is; How well will 343i launch the game and with what will they launch with?

Another great question: How long will it take 343i to implement certain features, game modes, etc., that should have been there at launch.

yes exactly its halo reach 2 xD
