Hello X-box players
What is the big deal about halo? I recently found out that my idol is a big halo fan. I’ve always loved the way the soldiers looked and thought about them often. I also have fantasies about killing Aliens. But the one time I played halo I didn’t really like it. The battle field was hard to see and I was just bored where I was I guess. Maybe it was who I playing it with that made it boring.
I am a hug Metroid fan so does Halo compare to Metroid?
I just don’t know if Halo is right for me and I don’t have much money. What do I need to get started and how much would it cost me? I don’t want to play online.
Tell us more please.
alright; what you need is the original Halo. It should cost like 5 dollars now. Play that game, single player first and then maybe get a friend or your brother to play some multiplayer. But the single player is where it’s all at.
If I were you, I’d borrow or rent a Halo game to see how the gameplay is. And if you like it enough you could get Halo:CE and or Halo 2 if you want to know the story (Or look up the story somewhere, Such as YouTube or HaloWiki).
The only Halo game that is more than $30.00 in US currency is Halo: Reach ($60.00 at this moment).
But to me it sounds like you would like it if not love it, but thats coming from me who is a huge Halo junkie.
Thank you Halo’ers. My idol told me that I am missing out bigtime. I don’t have the X-box though! So should I get X-box just to play Halo or should I buy X-box 360?

Depends; if you want to fully enjoy the Xbox 360, you need Xbox Live which will cost you 60 dollars a year now and you don’t get a console for just one game. If you’re going to buy a console take into consideration:
1.) Are you gonna play more than just one game?
2.) Are you willing to pay the 60 dollars a year for online multiplayer and arcade games.
Also, if you buy an xbox 360, the majority of games from the original xbox are playable there… especially Halo.
Also; see if you can borrow someone elses 360 first. Halo 3, ODST and Reach don’t take too long to pass (even on Legendary mode) and the story in general is pretty good.

I got an Xbox 360 as a gift, but I wanted it specifically for Halo.
I don’t really know what to tell you besides get it if you want it or don’t.
Hope I was a help at all
Buy an Xbox 360, and pay the $60 for live per year if your actually willing to try out the excellent multiplayer. Make your gamertag, then just download Halo:CE at the marketplace. If you have enjoyed Halo:CE, and a good computer that runs excellent and at least on Vista, then I suggest Halo 2 Vista. This version of Halo 2 unlike the original xbox version comes with Live Achivements and still functioning multi player. The rest can just be just played from your xbox 360. Most of all if you want to really become a halo historian, downloading the waypoint and looking at the Intel will help you out.
Have a good time enjoying your carnage.
edit The way it compairs to Metroid is the first person, but without any of those lengthy puzzles. It has an awesome plot and designation though. Halo 2 is when it gets really fun, like taking out the prophet of regret
If you don’t have too much money, then I would suggest not spending it all on video games. If you can afford it, then get a 360 and all six Halo games, you won’t regret it. But if you want an introduction to the series before playing the games, you can start by reading the books. The Fall of Reach is a great book to start with. It doesn’t take place first in the story, but it was published first.
Here is the order that everything takes place:
Halo Cryptum (Book)
Halo Contact Harvest (Book)
Halo Wars (Game)-Halo The Cole Protocol (Book)
Halo the Fall of Reach (Book)-Halo Reach (Game)
Halo Combat Evolved (Game)-Halo The Flood (Book)
Halo First Strike (Book)
Halo 2 (Game)-Halo 3 ODST (Game)-Halo Ghosts of Onyx (Book)
Halo 3 (Game)
There is also Halo Evolution (Book), but that is a collection of short stories, so it is hard to place them in a specific order. And Halo Legends (DVD), but like Evolutions, it is a collection of shorts. Finally, there is Dr. Halsey’'s Journal (Book), a journal written from the perspective of one of Halo’s characters. It was only available with the special edition of Halo Reach, but it can be found on ebay.
I hope this helped!
EDIT: Oh, and you don’t need XBox Live. Online play is fun, but the story is what you seem to be interested in. And I agree, I feel that the story is the best part.
Pope to answer your questions…
!. Yes I have been wanting to play Ninja Gaiden for years!
2. Probably not but I don’t know
If I Do not get the X-box 360 then how many of the halo games can I play? I saw a regular X-Box for 300 bucks. That’s more then a 360. WHY? I can’t afford that.
and why is my user name MottledAverage5?
And I honestly do not want the books I just want to play the game. Also I saw someone mention vista and all kinds of other stuffs and you lost me. I’m not using a Microsoft.

The Xbox 360 can play most Original Xbox titles, including Halo 1 and 2. So definitley don’t by an original Xbox.
-
I would recommend starting with Halo 1. You can buy it cheap these days. If you like Halo 1, then move on to Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars, and Halo: Reach.
-
I wouldn’t purchase an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription (think “premium”) account right away (I would recommend creating an Xbox LIVE Silver account, though–it’s free!). If you find that you enjoy the Halo games, then consider it. You may also want to go to a friend’s/neighbor’s/someone else’s house to try out the multiplayer first.

Forum usernames are our Xbox LIVE Gamertags. Since it doesn’t appear you have one yet, it looks like the forum auto-generated a name for you. I could be wrong. You’re the first I’ve seen, so I’m not sure.
So the silver account is free? So I can play online for free?!
And I do not have any friends. No one likes me, haha!
Question about the X-Box 360s. Don’t they break down all the time?

Actually membership is free for a month. So yes, you could say that in a sense. But silver is when it downgrades to stuff like downloading games only. And no, if you buy the new slim one, your chances of getting RRoD are quite Slim.(get it?)
If you like call of duty, then you probably wont want to play halo.
Y3SSSS G0 BUY 1T NAOW!!! /stupid lol but yes it is an amazing game if your going to play it though you HAVE to start at halo CE and work your way forwards because if you dont you wont have any idea whats going on AT ALL.
For some reason I couldn’t get on the site last night.
Anyway I don’t know if I can afford to buy an X-box. The more I think about it the more I want to play this game. But is it worth spending all this money just to play Halo and Ninja Gaiden?
I am using a Mac and all the X-Boxes say Micro-soft. So what does that mean for me?
Grocery list:
Pizza
Beer
X-Box
Not really gonna matter, since your just gonna plug it into your TV. If your gonna Download Halo CE though, be prepaired with a spare ethernet cable or have wi fi ready so you can use the marketplace. Let me check if the game costs points or actual money to buy.
Edit
It costs microsoft points, so buying at least 1200 in prepaid while your at the store should be good. Also I suggest you find something to do during that time, since the download may take awhile.
Zero please help me out more. I’m still confused or maybe I’m just stupid.
Does my Mac Book pro have anything to do with this? I think you said that it doesn’t.
And do I have to down load the game like why can’t I just buy it? Do I want to play online or can I just get the game and play online much later?
I have enough money to buy the X-Box but not Halo as well or food for that matter HAHA. I think everyone knows how much money I have right now. I’m going to get god to help me get this. -Takes a deep breath- God will figure this out.
