Ugh hi. I plan on purchasing a used Original Xbox for nostalgia, and I’m a bit confused by the whole Xbox Live thing.
I understand all Xbox games that use Xbox Live for multiplayer are dead. How about games that have multiplayer but don’t use Xbox Live? Does that even exist?
For example, Halo 1 used to have multiplayer but not on Xbox Live, did it?
So in a way, does Halo 1 still have multiplayer without using Xbox Live?
Sincerely,
Joji
Yes you can grab 4 controllers and 4 xboxes and system link all 4 for 16 player matches over halo ce, halo 2, halo 3, halo reach, and halo 4 just like old times. Nothing has changed in that regard.
Halo: CE didn’t have online multiplayer, just local/splitscreen… as well as system link.
Yes, for PC it is anyways. I still play it once in a while…
Yes, you can play it on Xlink Kai or Xbox Connect. When I was active I saw a few players playing CE. That was one time though.
I created a thread a long time ago about connecting to either Xlink Kai or Xbox Connect.

If you want to play MP CE over the internet with your Xbox those are the options I know of. Don’t expect to find users playing it but you can play it if users are present.
Yep. Xbox Connect.
Although I have an issue with Halo CE, because I live in Europe and I have the PAL version, and I only get people with NTSC, which is incompatible.
