Is Halo 5 Worth Getting just for Forge & Customs?

I sold my ps4 a while back and was thinking about buying a new one again but at the same time I was kinda interested in getting an XBOX ONE just because after I sold my ps4 I went back to playing Halo: Reach on 360 and forgotten how much I loved it, started forging maps again (a hell of a lot better at it now since I’m older) and playing custom games, mainly splitscreen since it is hard to come across people playing online anymore, especially for Custom Games: a shame wanna test out my new maps :frowning:

HOWEVER…

I have seen some of Halo 5’s forge capabilities and some custom games. Some linear zombie maps look well fun along with some mini games, drag races etc and the lobbies for custom games actually contain 16 players instead of my measly 4 on Halo Reach!

I am not interested in Campaign, I played a bit and found it pretty damn dull compared to my previous experiences, and watched the rest of the games campaign online and thought the story was awful (no offence 343 but personally I thought it was very bad, writing and dialogue and nowhere near as much iconic imagery like Reach or 3). I’m not super bothered about Matchmaking either as I have played a bit and don’t like the thrust ability at all or default sprint when I’m wanting to play properly online, i’ll stick to Halo 3 and Reach for that. Also hate the requisitions packs, urgh. Not ever really been massively into firefight either, like I don’t think it’s bad but I find it tedious and want to move onto something else unless I’m doing it for achievements (or challenges every now and then in Reach).

Whilst I may have a lot of problems with Halo 5 I just wanna know if it is worth getting the game purely for forge and Custom games, as the rest I feel has been butchered for the most part. I’d still probably play a bit of multiplayer (can’t help myself with unlockable armour) but wouldn’t really be a main for me after what’s happened to it.

Some of you may like Halo 5 multiplayer (don’t tell me you like the campaign please) and liking the multiplayer is fine if you do, just personally I do not.

Tell me if you think it’s worth it!

The Forge modes and Customs in Halo 5 is really good. A shame you don’t like multiplayer though…it’s probably one of the best in the series by far.

Each to their own, I just find it too twitch shootery now and just doesn’t feel as satisfying, the games no longer really feel like they have progression and vehicular combat even feels numbed. But this is why we all have our own opinions  Just curious though, and this is NOT a dig at you, but did you play Halo 3 and Halo: Reach back in their hay day when they were released?

I have seen some Forge maps and they look ugly with too clean surfaces but also seen other maps which look phenomenal, saw an Empire Strikes back map the other day and one where someone made a player battlegrounds type of map!

Personally, I don’t believe in getting a game if you don’t plan on experiencing it fully. I would say that Forge and Customs alone is not worth buying Halo 5 on Xbox One. You’d be better off getting a nice PC and getting Halo 5 Forge on PC for free.

WAIT HALO 5 EXISTS ON PC?!?!? How have I never heard of this sign me up! Although, do you still get custom games to play with other people on the maps you or other people make on PC? As just making maps would be cool but eventually disappointing when all you can do is look at it with your friends instead of play it!

Halo 5 Forge is a PC port of the Forge and Custom Games portions of Halo 5. There is no matchmaking, no campaign, no ranks, no RP, no XP. As far as I know, there is no crossplay in custom games (could be wrong). You can make maps on PC and play them on either PC or Xbox One. I think you can use the Custom Games browser. However, you need a pretty powerful PC to handle Halo 5 Forge.

No any of the specs to run it off by heart or at least roughly? If not it’s cool I’m sure I can probably look it up somewhere!

If your PC is comparable to an Xbox One, you can run it. But you will need Windows 10.

S’free though, and this is offering precisely what you’re looking for, so yeah.

If you have a group of friends to play with or just like to build -Yoink- then definitely. Otherwise if you’re not into multiplayer then no.
