Is Halo: 5 the worst Halo?

That’s fine, because everyone else is of varying skill. You’re not playing against an entire team that’s your skill level or higher, there are people beneath you as well. If people needed to warm up or just lay back for a game where they could do decently without getting destroyed, Social was the answer. That’s no longer the case.

Loose matchmaking only allows you to play at your leisure if you’re at the upper end of the curve. If you’re at the lower end of the curve, then the chances of being outranked gets higher.

If I have a party full of Onyx players, which is more likely to happen? Being ranked with similar onyx players, or being ranked with anyone from Bronze to Platinum?

Likewise, if I have a party of Bronze/Silver players, which is more likely to happen? Being ranked with similar Bronze/Silver players, or being matched with anyone from Silver to Onyx?

Even if I was Bronze/Silver solo queueing, the chances of someone on the opposing team being the same low rank is slim, and each engagement would be me trying my best against a better player.

That is why we have ranks everywhere to begin with. If you want to warm up and not take things seriously, then simply don’t take things seriously. Your rank will soon reflect that.

Again, that’s gonna happen is a bunch of good players play a “Social game” to the best of their abilities, and everyone else is going to either try equally as hard or lose.

The reason why you didn’t see pubstomping (as often) in earlier games was because they had an actual Ranking system (H2, H3, Arena in Reach), or the competitive side was shafted, making the entire game social (Reach, H4, MCC pre-TU)

Halo: 5 has less armor customization ability than Halo: 3. What I mean by that is you can only change the entire armor set (legs, shoulders, chest all together) and the helmet. Yes, you can change the visor but big deal. Halo: 3 allowed you to change both shoulders, chest, and helmet. Don’t get me started on Halo: Reach (halo customization heaven). Yes, Halo: 5 has a lot of armor to choose from (and I mean a lot) however, most of it is recycled garbage. 343 seems to have shown no effort or creativity with the armor.

I cannot begin to express how frustrated and down right upset the lack of effort that was put into this game makes me.

OH MY FREAKING GOD THANK YOU! THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY PEOPLE THAT REALLY UNDERSTAND THAT HALO IS GOING DOWNHILL.

You’re still arguing hypotheticals that have already been proven wrong. Were you not around for much of H2 or H3?

Halo 5 has a ranking system also, so I’m not sure how that’s relevant.

Yes because I run into cheaters 24/7and I get banned I mean what the hell.

My opinion on the game is that although I agree with what you’ve said I think that 343 is purposely doing this as of course they need to move on and forget the days when bungie owned halo so they wanna make it totally there’s so customisation restraints and limits to what you can do I think is one of their ways of getting it done

The worst halo is better then most games.

Most of Halo 2 & 3 had a ranking system that worked. Other than Team Training, BTB, or something similar.

I don’t see how a party of Onyx players is a hypothetical situation, nor is being a low ranking player in Social. Those sound more than likely, if anything.

Is there a reason why you think Halo: Reach is one of the worst?

The thing is you’ve still shown no proof to counter the “hypotheticals”. Why is that system still not in place? Why did bungie change it? Why hasn’t 343 implemented it had it worked so well? The thing is social play is literally by name only. If I want to play social I’ll give no -Yoink- who I’m up vs, how I win or lose, and how I or anyone plays. You’re not really playing socially if you’re bothered by playing vs a pre made team of tryhards in a supposed social playlist/gametype. social only means “I don’t care care, I’m playing for fun” but when you lose in whatever way that then bothers you it’s cuz they’re not playing how they’re supposed to even when social has no rules. Just cuz something is social doesn’t mean I can’t go 30-0 on someone or that I’ll miss shots on purpose just to give you a fair chance.

Ive argued it many times, had h2 and h3s system done it correctly, they wouldn’t have changed it, and surely 343 would’ve incorporated it as well wouldn’t they? For something that’s proven it can work, why hasn’t it worked?

Why do all these people in this thread think Halo 5’s population has dropped the fastest out of every other Halo game? Give me some facts to back that Statement up.

I’d say halo 5 is better then 4 because it doesn’t get stale as easily

While I have a lot of fun in Infection, and some moderate fun in BTB and Warzone (These are the modes I prefer to play)
I have to say this is the most disappointing Halo title in the franchise, mobile games included. It set up WAY too much hype for such an incomplete package. The campaign, which is why I buy these -Yoinking!- games, was so damn boring. The story, even knowing most of the Expanded Universe, was still just awful compared to previous Halo Titles. And the lack of things to do just made me so upset. You could have been GREAT Halo 5, your movement abilities (except sprint) add so much to Halo Combat! Your Forge is amazing! You having 24 spartans on the ground is awesome! Hell, I’ll even give credit where it’s due: The REQ System, while ruining most of Progression, encouraging the developers to leave out game modes to funnel casuals to Warzone, and in generally being poorly designed, does a good job balancing REQ
Spam in Warzone.
We could have had an even better story than Halo 4, a better MP than Halo 3, a better amount of fun -Yoink- to do than Reach, a more open environment than ODST.
But you don’t. You failed Halo 5. And that’s what pisses me off the most.

That’s fine, because everyone else is of varying skill. You’re not playing against an entire team that’s your skill level or higher, there are people beneath you as well. If people needed to warm up or just lay back for a game where they could do decently without getting destroyed, Social was the answer. That’s no longer the case.

> I don’t see how a party of Onyx players is a hypothetical situation, nor is being a low ranking player in Social. Those sound more than likely, if anything.

Not that the situation is hypothetical, the supposed problems are hypothetical and have been proved otherwise.

Are you implying that H5’s ranking system doesn’t’ work? Regardless, your hypothetical problems are less likely to happen in H5 because teams dominate in Arena. They won’t be spending their time pub stomping in social because they already have an advantage in Arena (because of no party matching) where they can rank up. Social is typically for people playing alone or small parties. The divide would be even more defined in H5 than in past games.

> Is there a reason why you think Halo: Reach is one of the worst?

I didn’t mention Reach…

Halo, it appears, has become a victim of its own success.

Thinking back to the original ‘game changer’ Halo CE on the original Xbox. You got to change the colour of your armour, there were limited, though memorable maps, split screen and that was about it really. Its biggest selling point was a crash hot campaign, outstanding levels and a storyline with the best midway switcheroo in gaming history.

The bigger things get, the more folk expect. They expect more, want more, need more and if what they want ain’t there? The game is a failure? Sure the campaign in this iteration is too short and sure the loss of split screen and some of the offline content is a disappointment. I’m hopeful though that 343 have taken those recurring criticisms on board. People have been noisy enough for sure.

I still play all of them and IMO they all have something memorable to offer. I enjoy them all for different reasons and look at them as separate experiences. I’ll be there for the next one and hopefully a fair few after that.

>

Bungir clearly didn’t know what they were doing with Reach and I’m not gonna act like I have any idea why 343 does even half of the dumb -Yoink- they do.

The classic gameplay proved to work and they changed that, so obviously it doesn’t matter to them what works.

> Personally I have a blast. The multiplayer is perhaps the most balanced out of almost any game out there. Despite I disagree with parts of the story, the campaign was fun. The campaign is still better than Battlefield 4’s campaign and it is looks like a master piece compared to Black Ops 3 campaign which became the first Call of Duty to get me really really bored. I can’t pick the best or worse Halo. It is like choosing best or worst choclate ice creams for me. Is it perfect, no. Is it fun, hell yes.

“The multiplayer is perhaps the most balanced out of almost any game out there,” indeed

Here we go again

Let’s get this clear from the outset, there are no “bad” Halo games. They are all awesome in some way or another. Halo 5 has the most disappointing campaign, IMO, and I thought Halo 4’s was a pretty average one. However, it has one of the strongest multiplayers. I wouldn’t say it was the worst Halo game. It’s very hard to say which is the worst as they all have something very special about them. As a massive Halo fanboy, I cannot say which is the worst game. They’re all some level of awesome. The least awesome then? Probably Halo Wars and that is still frakking awesome!
