Halo 5 takes a fat -Yoink- on H4. That game was definitely the worst in the series for me, Halo 5 is probably my 4th favourite.

Dude, I’m sorry for your friend, but that isn’t relative at all; complete different situation.

I was agreeing with him that all change is good no matter what. It just takes time to accept it.
yes it is the worse halo. This is the first halo i ever got rid of, I bought it day of release played campaign and multiplayer and was entirely disappointed and returned it for a full refund. I tried giving it multiple chances by renting it when the “Amazing updates” came out and it was still terrible. It doesn’t feel like halo anymore, it feels more like some generic shooter. people question why the population is low and dont even consider it being that the game isn’t good.

Halo: 5 has less armor customization ability than Halo: 3. What I mean by that is you can only change the entire armor set (legs, shoulders, chest all together) and the helmet. Yes, you can change the visor but big deal. Halo: 3 allowed you to change both shoulders, chest, and helmet. Don’t get me started on Halo: Reach (halo customization heaven). Yes, Halo: 5 has a lot of armor to choose from (and I mean a lot) however, most of it is recycled garbage. 343 seems to have shown no effort or creativity with the armor.
> > > > > > > > The campaign in my opinion was utter -Yoink-; it was too short and ended terribly, and let’s not forget the fact that the previews for Halo: 5 were NO WHERE near accurate to the campaign. I feel 343 is just trying to get as much money as possible, something that can be seen with the new REQ system which allows you to buy the packs, making unlocking new armor pointless, and not even a challenge. I cannot begin to express how frustrated and down right upset the lack of effort that was put into this game makes me.
> > > > > > > > I feel Halo: 5 was a giant middle finger to the Halo community and we all sat on it. There’s so much more that is just terrible about this game, and you all know what those things are. We all have our own opinions. Some of the things I hate you may love. I do love some features of Halo: 5 but, they aren’t enough to save it for me. I want to hear what you think. What’s your opinion on the game?

It means no one is impressed nor wants to continue to play this PoS game. I get faster matches in Halo REACH with just 130 players playing in a certain game type (at the time there was a total population of ~ 9000 players). Chew on that for a while

> > > > >
> > > > >
> > > > > You’re completely missing the point. The point is people made their own choice to stop playing due to lack of interest, the top 10 is just to point out that people are lying about Halo 5 being the best or most popular Halo in the series. It really does sound like you can’t accept the facts by making assumptions to provoke responses. It’s one of the worst selling Halo games in the franchise…that speaks volumes over anything involving top 10 since right now less people are buying the game, less people are playing Halo 5 than any previous Halo game.
> > > >
> > > >
> > > > Too be fair, they have a right to lose interest. Maybe they’re simply not interested in Halo in general anymore? And rightfully so; they can go and find something else they love, and we can stay and continuing loving what we do. A smaller fanbase, isn’t always a BAD thing. Bad for the devs, maybe. But having even a tiny, supportive fanbase is all ANY franchise needs.

> But I’ve spent too long being SERIOUSLY, EMOTIONALLY hurt because I over-concerned myself with the people who simply don’t like it anymore, or didn’t like it in the first place. Seriously, I actually cried sometimes because I couldn’t stand that there were people who didn’t like it. At this point, it’s HARD for ME to have fun playing the game because it always makes me remember that not everyone likes it. In a literal sense, other people not liking it actually ruins my experience. So I try to ignore the population.
>
> At this point? I’ll be happy if Halo even remains with a cult following. So long as they can continue making Halo games, even if the budget goes down, I’ll be happy. The longer we support them, the more Halo games they can make. The more Halo games they make, the more chance they have to make a solid, good one. So the way I see it? I want good Halo games? I’ll continue to buy their products and offer proper criticism, rather than just leaving. Those who simply leave (and thus, lower the population), can easily be considered as simply “no longer fans”.
Dude, you speak so much truth it’s ridiculous. I have experiences that mirror your own - started by playing CE and 2 in sequence in 2004, co-op with my dad - and I’m in much the same situation you were in before you formed the outlook which you wrote in that comment. Sometimes, I feel pretty down over the state of not the games and other media (which I will continue to obsessively partake in because I love the universe and I feel like I have a duty to support it in everything it does for how awesome it made my childhood), but because the community itself has negative opinions which often just seem overly hateful and all-consuming.
I guess I’m not really adding anything to your statement, here, but I just wanted to say - I totally agree with everything you say - especially the part about other people not liking it ruins my experience, and the way you rationalize it all is actually really interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Why do people care so much about sales and player retention in regards to Halo?
Simple, it gives the developers feedback into their wallets saying that as a majority, the Halo fanbase does not want what they are selling. Because despite opinions on this forum -which by the way is actually the minority of the Halo 5 population which is the minority of the Halo fanbase- most of the Halo fan-base did not like Halo 5 as a game, 343i’s business practices, or both. For me, it was actually both.
What a lot of the people on this forum don’t seem to grasp is just because the small vocal minority on this forum either forgive 343 or outright declare their vitriolic hatred for them, doesn’t mean that’s the largest opinion of the fanbase. In fact, the largest opinion of the fanbase is the silent majority that either didn’t buy the game or are no longer playing it.
It is theorized that Microsoft has managed to sell 19 to 20 million consoles. Halo 3, over it’s lifetime, sold 12 million copies. Microsoft is unwilling to release the numbers for Halo 5, but VG CHarts puts it at a ballpark of 3+ million. So, theoretically, there are 9 million Halo fans out there that said Halo 5 wasn’t worth their time and money. That is 3/4 of the entire Halo fanbase or 9 MILLION players. That therefore puts anyone who bought Halo 5 into a minority. But it gets even better.
As stated before Halo 5 has had abysmal player retention. So a paltry amount of players that actually bought the game, still play it. And amongst those people, not all of them actually get on the forums to discuss Halo anymore. So this forum now represents one of the smallest minorities of the Halo fanbase.
So what does that mean? 343 needs to bring Halo back on course to what it used to be, at least on a core gameplay level as well as quit with the dirty under-the-table DLC dealings that we have been getting. Further steps would be to re-evaluate the Req and customization systems. At the same time, a lot of players are wholly unsatisfied with the story at this point, and I can’t blame them. It might be impossible to even bring those players back.
Halo 5 isn’t the worst Halo, but it certainly is heralding a very dark time for the series as a whole.
Oh, and for the people saying if you don’t like the game, don’t play it. I agree. There’s is no better way to show discontent, than by letting this game dwindle and die.
i hate it when people compare 343s halos to bungies, obviously 343 doesnt care nearly as much as bungie when it comes to halo.

Why are you reviving old threads its now gonna get locked.
Halo 5 is one of the best in my opinion. Just the Campaign wasn’t super good. I love Halo 5. 15/10
> 2535459229599316;3:
> No, definitely not the worst. Multiplayer was one of, if not the best in the series. I agree with your views about campaign somewhat, but you can’t judge a game on its campaign because that is not what keeps fans playing after 7 months. Customization isn’t the best to be honest, many of those armor pieces are ugly but there is quite a selection of appealing pieces to chose from. IMO, 4 was worst and reach next. (I love all halo games, some are just better than others, reach holds a special place in my heart)
“Keeps fans playing?” I like the multiplayer but I don’t think that it should be considered a good game because one aspect of it is pretty good. That would be like me saying Jaws unleashed wasn’t the worst game because it really nailed unrealistically throwing barrels in the air. I keep playing in hopes of unlocking new weapons with a RNG, like a gambling addiction.
It’s actually not a bad game at all in a couple ways but it’s also not a great Halo experience for me. 3 Chief missions is also a joke and a shame because it effects my wanting to play the campaign in the same way I’ve always done. A majority of people have issue with Halo5 so there’s hope for Halo6 being an improvement at least. I’ll be calling it a day if it isn’t
TBH, Halo 5 is on my top 3 favorite Halo games.
There are positives and negatives to Halo 5, but the positives outweigh the negatives to me and it’s an amazing game.
The fact stands that Halo 5 on average has less than 25,000 players 11 months after launch, behind Battlefield 4 in population on the most popular/played xbox one games. Battlefield 4’s population on xbox one on average has less than 25,000-30,000 players a day, and this game was releases 3 years ago! There are various websites that give accurate to rough estimates on Bf4’s population that you can look up, but the fact stands that a 3 year old game has more players than Halo 5 which was only released less than a year ago. 343 and Microsoft prioritize sales and population, you may say “Well Halo 5 is fun” or something like that but it doesn’t matter what you think, because 343 and Microsoft know that they took a wrong turn. Where did the 250,000-500,000 players that a Halo game could maintain go? I’ll leave that for you to decide…
Halo 3 ODST was because the multiplayer didnt work!
