Is Halo 5 really dead?

So lately, in the wee hours of the night, it’s been getting incredibly hard to find ranked matches in H5. Last night it was so bad, a few players and I ended up running HCS format custom game series. I participated in 2 separate series of best 3/5.

If anyone else has had problems finding games later at night, please discuss it. I do believe the future of 4v4 games like you’d find in ranked slayer and arena in Halo 5: Guardians, is going to be in Custom Games.

I’m not sure about night time. When I play during the day, I always find Slayer and Swat games pretty quickly. Firefight and warzone too. I dont know if there’s a search preference in the setting that you have to chance but maybe that could be it.

Depends on the time. I’ve noticed population seems ok at certain times, at certain times the playlists seem dead so had to take a break till later.

I easily find matches in social and warzone playlists but I have problems in ranked

The early morning hours are likely when the game is the least populated so having a lower pop searching plus tighter matching restrictions will make it difficult to find a game.

The only games I can’t find matches to are stuff like Forerunner Slayer. I’ve never had a problem finding games of Warzone Firefight, SWAT or Arena Slayer. But I’m a very average player, so I have a much larger pool of people to draw from than people that are really good.

Maybe your just unlucky and there’s not many people that play in the same rank as you who play when you do? I almost always find people when I play so I don’t really know

I’m inclined to believe that the criteria needing to be met in regards to csr in tandem with low a.m. population is what is causing the difficulty in finding games. I honestly feel like this is the case 100%.

My true point here is that the closer we get to Infinite’s launch, the more difficult its going to be for higher ranked players to find a match in ranked slayer. In particular, onyx and champion ranked players. Ultimately, I am pointing out that players in that bracket may spend the rest of Halo 5’s days in customs if they want to engage in 4v4 slayer and objective games. It will become increasingly important for higher skilled plays to send friend requests to eachother and maintain an open dialogue about custom games if they want to keep playing the game they love without having to wait eons in the ranked search queues.

As has been stated in this thread, firefight games are easy to find still along with social playlists and probably will continue to be easy to find til the end of H5’s lifecycle. This will make it possible to grind xp for players still aiming to acquire the max level attainable, 152, before Infinite launches.

In the end, matchmaking will die as it has in the past with our previous beloved halo titles. Custom Games, however, will live on in the lobbies of the die hard H5 players. Feel free to add me for potential custom games.

-The is no End, only the beginning of it.

Firefight doesn’t really have any skill restrictions so finding a game will likely always be easy to get.

Depends on time of day and I only ever had a problem searching like Forunner/covenant slayer

For me, I play any time of day except late at night (such as after midnight) since I’d usually be tired by then and I can get into matches just fine. The ones I play are Quick Play, Team Slayer, Team Arena, FFA, Swat (not in a while but when I did I still had no issues), and nowadays Team Doubles. FFA usually takes the most time to get into, but I do get into it (wait can take up to 5 minutes). I’d say the second longest might be a tie between Team Doubles and Team Arena (usually waiting 3ish minutes, give or take) but can usually get into the others within a few seconds to about a minute. So for me, I don’t think Halo 5 is dead from my continued experience with it.

I also have an issue with ranked, while social seems okay, ranked is increbidly hard to find a game for. For example BTB comes up with “Unable to match”, and that there may not be enough players, day or night. It could just be the European population is a tad low in my case.

Even playing on alt gt its still taking forever

That’s not gonna matter much once the system figures out your actual skill level.

I know it takes 3 games unless you have mmr in another playlist

Never can find a game, literally waiting in slayer for 30 min no joking to play. All i can do is sit and watch my netflix show while queuing!

My searches in WZA, Team Arena and FFA timed out today before work. Population tracker in menu, like Halo 3, would be great.

Just like with the MCC a PC version of Halo 5 would help revitalize it.
Microsoft/343i should seriously consider it.

In any case more Halo on PC is never a bad thing.

No, it isn’t dead. It could be the playlist you’re searching, the people you are partied up with, and the search parameters.
