Is Halo 5 not what you asked for?

Everyone said that to return Halo to it’s roots it would need to get rid of loadouts, random ordnance, flinch, return power weapons to the map, etc.

The only thing I see that has stayed that everyone wanted gone from Halo 4 is sprint and even that has been nerfed at least. Now with Halo 5 we have dedicated servers, equal starts, weapon pickups, descope and more.

Is this not what you wanted? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!? (sorry I had to reference gladiator)

It just looks like to me that everyone is hating on the game because of Spartan abilities. Let me ask you something. If there are features that can be added into Halo’s multiplayer to enrich and deepen the experience while still retaining it’s core values, what is wrong with adding them in? We won’t know until the beta for sure.

You say that if you run around the corner in old Halo and get yourself into a sticky situation that you deserve the death. I can’t argue with that. There’s nothing wrong with that. But if someone goes around the corner to see a bunch of enemies and then has the skill to jump, dash, clamber and slide away before being killed, how is that hurting the game? Because it’s not Halo? In Halo 1 you couldn’t fight a vehicle without grenades or a rocket launcher, in Halo 2 you can just camp a tight corner and board a ghost as it drives by…This your ok with, but not the notion to use abilities (that everyone has) in a skillful manner?

And I’m not saying hijacking is a broken feature that players overlooked, I’m just saying that it would have made just as much sense to complain about hijacking as it would to complain about clamber.

My biggest request for 343 was remove loadouts, AAS, ordinance, and sprint.
So no, not quite what I’ve personally asked for. Sprint is almost a total deal-breaker for me.

Sprint is still present so… yeah

But honestly this mechanic didn’t bother me as much than the Armor Abilities and Loadouts

but yeah 2/3s of the bad gameplay design triangle of Loadouts/AAs-Sprint-Ordnance are out so that’s great.

Even with them nerfing it?

I was hoping Sprint would be removed because Halo 5 is supposed to be an Arena shooter. Hopefully, they will nerf it more.

Sprint isn’t what differences Arena shooters to others shooters.

People are tired of sprint/abilities

Failed in Reach
Failed in H4
??? in H5

I suspect another fail

How many successful Arena shooters do you know that implemented Sprint well?

Yes. Maps will still grow to compensate for it. Look how big the Midship remake is.
Nerfed or not, I still despise this mechanic. You can spray the garbage with febreze all you want, and sure it’ll make it smell better and it may be a little bit more tolerable sitting in your kitchen, but eventually you gotta take it out.
I’m honestly shocked it’s still being included.

I’m not trying to sound ungrateful or anything about the removal of the other -Yoink- from Halo 4. Trust me, I’m thrilled. I’m just trying to focus more on what still needs to be done.

I agree, Halo 5 is way closer to the first three games than anything else after Halo 3. This is coming from someone who is skeptical about the game.

I honestly have a mixed feeling about it, but mostly positive. Gonna have to play the beta first.

Nope. halo 5 guardians is going to be AWESOME!

Irrelevant - your argument is based of a logical fallacy, “There are no good arena shooters (that I know of) , therefore sprint is not part of arena shooters” that’s just…wrong. the definition of an arena shooter is pretty damn simple - map weapon spawns, equal starts and…that’s kind of it - regenerating health was not part of arena shooters before Halo - or at least Quake didn’t have it. Ureal tournament has vehicles where others before it didn’t - so yes, it’s entirely possible to have sprint in an arena shooter.

“IS HALO 5 NOT WHAT YOU ASKED FOR?”
It has sprint and bloom, therefore, no.

Did you ask for Halo 5 to be a fun game or just a game with no sprint and bloom?
Because just what if you played the beta and everything actually gelled? You yourself said that the possibility of you doing a 180 if 343 did something awesome and balanced with it was not nil, right?

Just felt the need to probe because to be honest, that statement sounded quite shallow to me.

I asked for a halo game that was fast paced and felt like a next gen shooter.
So yes, halo 5 is what I asked for

Define “fun”.

It was a shallow question, so I responded as such.

Allow me to be hammy here.
I HAVE A DREAM… where the games of today can be fun, where people can engage competitively in an exhilarating manner. Where they can healthily compare their skills in a friendly manner; rivalries born not to spite but to foster bonds and help develop one’s skills.

I HAVE A DREAM… where a game can truly feel the rush of battle that is not single-sided, where every man is able to make his mark not because of the tools he was born into a match with, but the skills with which he transform even a stick and rock into a cannon.

I HAVE A DREAM… where the emphasis on team matches fosters a sense of camaraderie among teammates and not strife and conflict, a sense of respect among rivals and in the end, when all’s done, they can sit together in the table of brotherhood.

I HAVE A DREAM… that you share my dream, brother.

I have that same dream but at the cost of good map design, weapon mechanics, motion tracker effectiveness and over-all competitiveness? I would much rather the base speed be boosted and sprint to be removed.
