I just started playing Halo 5 for the first time in months and I’m getting destroyed. I just played a game where I went 2 and 12! I’m still unranked but I’m typically a Gold/Platinum player and I’m getting matched with Onyx and Diamond. Looks like I’m going to be dead last for a while. I’m not super competitive either and everyone seems to take it very seriously.
This happens to a lot of games that get old. Only the “hardcore” fans still play so typically you are going to get matched with really good players. Not to mention H5 has always been a hella competitive game.

I guess that makes sense. Halo 5 was never my favorite but I still found parts of it to be fun. Now it’s turning in to the rest of Halo. There’s only pros left. It’s harder and harder to enjoy this series as a casual player.
There are plenty of casuals left. While you’re unranked, you’ll match with a variety of skill levels, but you should start getting more games with people around your skill level the more you play as long as the population allows for it.

I get Onyx players almost every time. I even got matched against Champion player once or twice. It’s hard to make it through the first 10 matches when I do so bad. I prefer ranked because at least the game will try to match me with players at the same level. Social game modes seem to be filled with players trying to farm kills.

I think what might be happening is that those high-ranking players are partied up with smurfs or new players. So matchmaking is finding you games with those low-ranked players, but they are in the same fireteam as high-ranked players.
Well I finally made it to through the placement games. I’m surprised I got put in Platinum. I thought I would get Gold for sure after the way I was playing.

You may want to check out MCC, it’s way better than H5, way more fun and way less stressful/competitive. The soical match composer is probably the best thing to ever happen to Halo. Pick the titles you want, the game size, and the game types… It’s awesome.

Yeah, I play the MCC a lot. I just wanted to try some Hao 5 because it’s been a while. I agree that the match composer is pretty awesome.

I’m a bit sacred of that, because I notice it already hapening. And at times my whole fun factor and halo vibe gets killed by really serious games. Many of my friends don’t see it or disagree with me about halo 5 being a old game.
Side note maybe it’s gears 5 pulling away the fan base and making matches more serious.

I may get one of those. I have a cheap 500gig Xbox. Now I am fighting the urge not to get a Xbox one X as I just started RDR2 today and I really want to see it Xbox one x enhanced.

I have the 1TB Halo 5 Xbox One. I ended up buying a 2 TB external HDD and now I have more than enough space.

I can see that it’s already been said, but you can’t really stress it enough: after the first 6 months a game is out, that magical feeling of totally destroying your enemies pretty much dies and your left to grind axes with people who are either as good or are far better than you. And it only gets worse. Same thing happened to me, I came back to H5 and just barely made Platinum in team slayer and gold 5 in doubles. Everything else I’ve done so terrible in i haven’t even bothered trying to grind on to place in a division. Over in social I’ve been able to have fun in stuff like Husky Raid and ODST slayer, but I’d wager that’s because newer or different wacky randomized game modes throw the “old pros” who grind it out more hours a day than Im even awake off their game a little bit.
Not too much fun to play these days. Doesn’t really matter what game you play, with the exception of FF. If your not Champ, Onyx or Diamond your gonna get stomped… lol

There are less people for players to get matched with. There aren’t enough people of your skill level to get matched with, so you get stuck playing higher ranked people.
I can’t really see a difference to be honest.
