Not sure if anyone else has the same problem but on average waiting 10+ minutes for a game in ranked and warzone. The only playlist (understandably) that has the quickest match in is the halo 3 throwback.
are you using focused? I rarely have to wait. The only issue i ever have is when i queue warzone and the one person disconnects/quits and i have to wait for the game to go back to the main lobby.
Swat gets games pretty quick as well
Using expanded bud, I went away from Halo for a few months come back and now I seem to just get timeout messages saying there may not be enough player to support this playlist.

Hmm that’s weird I get in very quickly! Maybe try a different playlist and go from their!
Time of day is a big factor. I’m in the EST timezone and I can’t really find matches before 12pm, but after that I generally have little issue.
I am in the central time zone, but play mainly at night and have zero issues finding games.
DoubleSama is right, time is day makes a big difference
Halo 5 is far from dead; it’s the fact that the game is 2+ years old and that most players have moved onto newer games since then. Finding matches depends on your timezone too. Some may have better luck than others.
No not dead at all. I think your ten minutes is a little exaggerated. It might feel like ten but it’s not ten. I search Focused but I do have time outs sometimes too. It doesn’t mean that the game is dead just a little old in terms of a video game.
I’m expanded and often get the time out or lag out of a match while loading. Outside that I find the same people playing very often. I assume the community is very small currently due to poor management. The current attempt to get people back in with halo 3 maps in social playlist should be signs enough we need H6. Although I do enjoy H5
Your skill seems to be in the middle of the population, so on that front you should be solid. If you were at either extreme (skilled or unskilled) you could be facing issues getting a match because there’s not enough people with similar MMR levels searching at the same time.
Are you searching solo or within a fireteam? Searching within a full fireteam can skew who the matchmaker is looking to match you against so it very well could be playing a role.
The Focus, Balanced, and Expanded settings simply set different prioritization for what data center/server can be used which can play a factor, but since you say you’re using “Expanded” you should be open to just about any data center/server so again you should be good on that front too.
Further location based issues is where you live regionally. Your region can certainly play a role in what data centers the game will look at.
As others have mentioned, time of day plays a big role in who’s available to match against so if your searching during a time period where the population is low you definitely could find yourself timing out. Your regional location relates to this as well.
The playlist’s population/popularity also plays a role and can be compounded by the effects related to the time of day. Are you searching Snipers, Breakout, or FFA within the Ranked environment? I ask because those tend to be the least populated Ranked playlists per the information Josh Menke (343i employee) shares. When you mention Warzone are you talking about Warzone Assault or Warzone? I ask because WZ Assault is a mode that struggles with its population.
Do you live outside of the U.S.?
Halo 5 is not dead! Everyone who has posted, have provided the issues across the board. Location, time of day, CSR, Playlist are all contributing factors. If it happens to me, just try again and it works for me!
I have no problem finding games quickly.
I dont think so bro i been playing since launch day and im still playing

I for sure get long que times in Warzone, but I can care less since it isnt core halo anyways.
I actually get decent que in the area.
search times sort of ebb and flow for me out here in south central canada. Usually not too bad though
I’ve been trying to find a match in warzone for about 5 hours so yea I think it it.

Yeah live in the UK mate, which doesn’t help because of time difference!
This is why I wish they had population counters.
But most people can find games very quickly. It might just be your connection.
Since you live in the UK, I can guess you’re having trouble finding players just because of the region you’re in, unfortunately. 343 claimed a while ago that Halo 5 had more players than Halo 3 did at one point, and surprisingly enough they had no numbers to back up that claim. I have a feeling Halo 5’s population is around 20k - 25k average players based on how many people say that it takes them years to get put into a game and the amount of people I get paired up with who I see almost every game.
