A little background info would be nice. From your profile it seems you don’t have any Halo experience at all, so I’m guessing Halo 5 would be your first Halo game.
As a standalone game it’s decent, but as a Halo title it’s a bit lack luster.

Yes, its fun. But it is challenging for newcomers. What I like is when you sprint, you feel heavy like a soldier with armor. Yet you feel strong in making jumps. the game is not about who shoots first. Its more about who can maneuver and shoot. Its like a high speed chess match.

It’s a good arena shooter, very different to some of the others out there. The variation of gameplay from all of the power weapons and maps is a lot of fun. Found myself playing slayer for far too long today. Warzone is also worth checking out as well if you want to learn some of the basics. Campaign is very action packed, but relatively short compared to past Halo games.

You’re mostly hearing disgruntled Halo fans who are upset with specific changes made to the games. Since you don’t have any previous attachment to Halo your views will probably differ.
Some criticisms are universal (lack of splitscreen, microtransactions, etc.) but most are really only valid through the lens of comparing it to past games.

If you liked the old Halo’s you’d probably find Halo 5 pretty jarring.
I think it is a great game. I was surprisingly pleased with how it turned out.
As a vet. This is bar far my favorite.
by far the best Halo yet.
has the most balanced multiplayer/weapon sandbox
game play is smooth, fast and keeps the classic Halo feel with improved mechanics.
forge is awesome
Campaign is fun, sets up for something big in the next game
most people who say its “bad” or the “worst halo” are usually the ones who just want Halo 2 remade over and over again.
