Is Halo 4 using a new engine?

There are a few things that i have noticed that are really bugging me. Gor instance when you shoot down a Banshee the debris just disappears into thin air. It used to come down and splatter people and roll around on the map. Also some of the explosions seem alot different from previous Halo’s. Im not trying to nitpick, but i think it is unfortunate that these things are different. Has anyone else noticed these things?

Anyone? (personal bump)

I’ve noticed some things.

When you destroy the Covie ship while on the FUD, it has really big pieces that just fall off. And there is only a few pieces when it should be a lot more damage. Also, the same thing when you blow up a Phantom. Just a few pieces that seem to come out of nowhere. The Cruiser I can actually understand, since it can break off certain pieces so the rest of the ship can survive.

Ok im glad im not the only one. I think half the fun in BTB was having to watch out for all the flying pieces of destroyed vehicles and the like… Is it possible this can be fixed?

also, the cruiser is in space, so no oxygen thus no fire.

The vehicles being destroyed is pretty lame as compared to Halo 3 and ODST. Specifically destroying phantoms was SO satisfying, now it’s just… a bit lame.

Halo 4 is using modified Halo Reach engine(most of the engine was recoded but the core engine was Reach’s). The lack of huge explosions has to do with 7 year old Technology (Xbox 360). I still see banshee pieces fly out of the explosion. 343 has said people who play split screen will see less effect because the game has to create double the effects at the same time.

Banshee pieces do still fly out from the explosion but they no longer will land on the map and kill you or litter the map because they just disappear which i think is a little bit weak… I hope they can maybe fix this because it was always cool seeing people get splattered by vehicle debris…
