Hey guys, I’ve played plenty of Halo in my life time and between each game there appears to a significant jump, particularly in the game mechanics and playing style. This time around though that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ve been been keeping up with the latest halo 4 news (vids, forums, etc.) and from what I’ve seen and heard halo 4 looks as if its just a Halo: Reach expansion. New guns, maps and powers are all cool and a great idea but the game appears to still have the same game mechanics, physics and feel to it as Halo: Reach.
Now this is just my opinion from what I’ve seen of the game and i wanna know what if u guys think the same or differently and why?
Also if anybody has played this I’d like to get their opinion on how the gameplay felt and if it differs from other halos?
While a lot of things are very different from both Reach and older Halo titles, it is different enough to warrant the “Sequel” title over “Expansion Pack.”
You’re going to have explain how H3 was a large leap in gameplay from H2 but H4 is not from HR.
If perma-sprint and no-drop flag with custom loadouts are just expansion pack additions, how is H2 to H3 something “big”?

> Halo 3 isn’t an expansion, it is make-up work.
Campaign-wise, it is H2.5 for half the game, but gameplay-wise, definitely a new game from H2
But that’s due to bringing back a slightly more useful SMG (the AR) and adding in equipment. That and the button combos were all but eliminated.
As I say, if perma-sprint, no-drop flag, custom loadouts and re-built AA’s (adding that one in, AA’s after all are re-built equipment) don’t progress H4 as a sequel to HR (gameplay-wise, not story-wise), then WTF? Why is H3 immune from such criticism? Where’s the parallel comparison to a tweaked version of a game that included the mechanics off all the games previous that lead to some pretty passionate times?

I’m hearing it’s 3 and 2 since the hitscan. Which is fantastic.

But unlike CoD, it was always stated to be an expansion After all it is Halo3: ODST. As you said, it was a full priced game expansion however.

Curious, H3 is mostly basic ballistics and not hitscan.

And if I must say… a bloody good expansion at that.
It’s an expansion of the story and characters, yes.
But, if you’re referring to a Call of Duty-style expansion…then, no.
The amount of work 343i are putting into this game is insane. So, no. Not a pure expansion. If that were true, then there would be no change in graphics, multi-player, etc. It would be just a new mission or a new mp map.
I thought Halo 3 was a massive change from Halo 2. They added the forge mode, which is now a staple concept for the game. There was equipment, new vehicles and weapons to reflect the style of the brutes, grifball. There was the theatre mode. I think it warrants to be called a ‘sequel’ more than a remake. As far as Halo 4 is concerned, I think that some of the ideas in there will dwarf Reach and everyone will forget those bad memories of blue, grey, and green.

Don’t make me laugh.
Barely holding 10,000 players is not “alive” at all.
