Before I start, I just want to say 343i did a great job with Halo 4 and I enjoy playing it. But, there are some things 343i is keeping out of Halo, which could eventually lead to a decrease in popularity. If you don’t want to read it all, here are the main points: Fileshare is still down, Few playlist, Few maps, Ranking System. Here are those issues explained:
Fileshare is still down: This should have been up the week Halo 4 came out. It allows players to see what the community is doing and what is being created.
Few playlist: 343i is adding a new playlist every week, which is good. The only problem is they are removing one each week too. Team Snipers, FFA, KOTH are removed and many people like playing these gametypes. Also, Team Doubles, Grifball, and others should have been included in the playlist with the release or a week or two after.
Few maps to play on: There are only a couple of maps to choose from in each playlist. 343i should include the forge made maps that came with the game in the playlist. Also, if the fileshare was up, we could probably have some community made maps in there too.
Ranking System: Halo 4 needs a ranking system. Even though I don’t rellly mind if there is one or not, I like playing with people with the same skill as me, like in Halo 3. I know there is a ranking system coming out in 2013, but it should have been included in the launch.
If 343i put all these in with the launch of Halo 4, I think the game would probably be #1 on the charts for most played game. I just hope they do it soon before more people start to leave from disappointment…
With you all the way here. I’m waiting for the January TU but if these issues(and a few besides)are not resolved then I can’t see myself sticking with the game. Halo will become my “change of scenery” game.
Lucky for you they’re doing everything you asked for in the months to come.
Goes to show we received an incomplete game.
Now, we get to pay for everything that should have been included from day one. I mean, we have a “map pack” one month after the games release. Really? That’s downright exploitation.
Shame on you, 343. Shame on you.
I have seen so many of these threads already and I havn’t even been on the forums for a day!
Anyways Yes Halo is going down a slipper slope and yes I think it can get back out of it with a few skillful moves. 343 have messed up on this but at least they are fixing it so I think everybody should just sit tight and wait until they release these updates to fix these problems and stop complaining
> Lucky for you they’re doing everything you asked for in the months to come.
I know it’s coming up, and I’m glad, I just wish they were put in at launch.
I just hope they’ll be able to put in a visible ranking system, not having to go to Waypoint to check every time, which to me would be bloody annoying considering the layout of Waypoint.
All of those things are good and 343 is actually working on getting most of that stuff in the game, but I would rather have map and weapon balancing fixed first. That’s what is the most frustrating for me at the moment.
The community is digging the franchise’s grave more than any of the games possibly could.
> Lucky for you they’re doing everything you asked for in the months to come.
Keywords: “In the months to come”. Why are we settling for this?! This should have been implemented FROM DAY 1! That is how they could have kept people from leaving for Black Ops (although they are lucky black ops 2 sucks so people aren’t staying on that game).
This was one of the poorest handled launches I have ever witnessed in my “video game career”. People love Halo, and were excited for it to be in new developers hands, and 343i, although making the game play work, and a great campaign, have failed in the customer service part of the game… the community part of the game.
Why are we so limited to the amount of game modes we have ever week? Why is it if we add one, we HAVE to take out another? We don’t want to split up our community? Well its better to split it up, than to lose players to other games that have a wide variety of game modes that they enjoy. Where’s Grifball? Wheres Snipers? Where’s MULTI TEAM?! Easy game modes are missing for no apparent reason. Game modes that we have been enjoying since as early as Halo 2, are now completely absent from the experience.
343i… FIX THE FILE SHARE! CALL UP BUNGIE, and get this thing going. I have played the living daylights out of this game, and am 2 ranks away from maxing out… To put it simple, I am very bored with the game right now. I want custom games to play with my friends to keep me entertained, but cannot download them because the File Share is down… One month, and 10 days into the game. Something that should have been ready pre launch.
This is one of the most excruciating months of gaming and its because of little things… Not campers, not maps imbalance, not campaign sucks, not spartan ops is dumb, but pure and simple LITTLE THINGS that were 100% avoidable. Why? Why did you put yourselves in this predicament? Is it Microsoft? If so, do like Bungie and SPLIT. And in that case, that means Halo is doomed forever.
It is true that it is the community that are digging the hole and they need to stop putting so much hate on a game they love? If they think they can do better go and do better!
But also 343i need to sort out some serious flaws because its as if the are taking Master Chiefs head, shoving it down the toilet and giving him a sworley!

To the highlighted:
You have been. TrueSkill matchmaking has been working since day one. It’s just not visible yet in the form of ranks.
> You have been. TrueSkill matchmaking has been working since day one. It’s just not visible yet in the form of ranks.
^^^^^ Truth. We have been playing on an invisible TrueSkill system, which makes it dumb that kids are complaining about not playing with people “at their rank”. Truthfully I think a real ranking system is pointless. It promotes boosting and cheating.
Rank doesn’t matter in any game. If you’re a 50 in Halo 2… oh boy gee wiz I’m terrified of you. *says no one ever. It’s an excuse to have a visible title for kids who think they are good. Rank is Pathetic, so please stop complaining about lack of rank.
Am I wrong or did they just announce that there will be a title update to fix some of the problems but no one actually knows what’s in it? Everyone here seems to be assuming they specifically know what it’ll fix.

They won’t publicly announce what they are fixing in the TU beforehand because if they list glitches, people will start trying to perform them before they’re fixed.

Oh, my mistake. I was unaware of this.

They announced in one of the previous bulletins that the next TU will also be addressing sandbox elements and the like. We should expect to see some nerfing and buffing here and there.

It’s all good
Spread the word. A lot of people seem to be unaware of that fact. It has definitely been working for me, for I have had my fair share of close, competitive games.

lol the game was complete… People will always complain if they’re losing lots… The main reason being no 1-50… There will be complaints even when the TU comes out.
